It is made out of a thick metal/iron and the finish is quite nice. They are quite heavy and were able to withstand a few storms with high winds and did not budge. Not flimsy at all. I would buy again and would recommend to anyone thinking of buying. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of five is that they were boxed together and the top one got dented in on the top during shipment.
