SUMBIN Night Latch Deadbolt Lock (Silver)

This lock was used to replace a Yale lock that was at least 50 years old on a house that was built in 1921. It was fairly easy to install but the plate that goes behind the lock did not fit perfectly, so the old plate was able to be used. It works fine so far. I am pleased with it and glad I was able to find one to replace the old lock.

The lock suits my purpose but not sure how well it will hold up outdoors, looks like has the potential to rust. Installation instructions were detailed but inaccurate. Drawing of where to break off cylinder tailpiece show only three break points but part actually had at least half a dozen.When I tried to break the connecting screws at the break points the first one turned out to be too short for the door despite the measurements provided. The second would have been long enough but in trying to break it the threads became too damaged to use. I ended up having to buy two screws from the hardware store (over $2).

I liked the really well. I had one before but wore it out. These locks are so easy to manage. It was so to install too. I'm using it for our front door.

This Deadbolt replaced the original one from 1910. A renter had the Swat Team come kick it in and ruin the old one. So I was very surprised to find this brand new one for under $16. Yes it is not top quality but it works and fits fine. The whole mechanism uses the same factory hole that was cut in the door from 1910. I drilled new pilot holes as they didn't match but the deadbolt covers all the old holes so it looks fine. The two keys it came with work fine as does the keyway, lock, and whole deadbolt operation. I'm very happy as it got me out of a SWAT induced doorjam.
