Adding oxygen to a fire makes it burn hotter. Fire needs air to burn. If you blow on a burning coal it will get more air and burn hotter. **Q: how noisy is it? I have owned two of these. The first lasted a few cooks, but the second lasted ONLY ONE cook before the wires disconnected from the fan. It appears the manufacturing and quality control lack any concern. Each of the units I have owned, a wire has broke loose from the fan motor. I have been extremely gentle with this unit, and make sure I do not twist it around too much, but to no avail. I have attempted to get a hold of Customer Support, but no luck. The outer construction appears to be well designed and durable, but the wiring is a weak link. After multiple purchases, and no luck getting a hold of customer service, I absolutely cannot recommend this product. As for my second one, I was not willing to let it go to the trash, so I re-soldered the wires, hoping to get a little life out of my purchase. One should not have to do this, as the product should be at least a little durable. My recommendation, find something else. First purchased in 2017, then again in 2024.
