Q: How much of the Betaine HCL & Pepsin is in each capsule? I couldn't find that very important information on this product.

On the Thorne website it says that each capsule contains 520 mg of Betaine Hydrochloride and 20 mg of Pepsin (Porcine). The serving size notated on the bottle is two capsules and that is probably why the previous responders are giving you a higher amount.

Q: How can you tell the difference between heartburn and the burn from having had too much of this product?

Generally, if it feels like 'acid' coming up toward your esophagus, it's most likely heart burn. I'd only take 2 caps maximum at a time, but I'm not a doctor. These are meant to add acid to stomach to aid in digestion, not 'fix' digestive problems. Check out the baking soda/burp stomach acid test.

Q: Hi - Perhaps you could put this answer with the question about the size of the tablet - is it possible to cut it in half to make it easier to swallow?

Hi Anne, clear gelatin capsule. pull apart if you need to and put on a spoon. For me, this has been fantastic, hopefully you will find the same results. I am faithful however, every protein meal. Every one. Good luck.

Q: Isn't it disingenuous to call this vegetarian when there's pork derivatives in it?

The product is not promoted or displayed as a Vegetarian product. The label only states that the capsules are Vegetarian. On the website there is an Allergy Warning which states the product contains an ingredient derived from a porcine (pork) source.
