Black + Decker KS501-GB 400 W Compact Jigsaw with Blade

Good jigsaw for bits of work around the house. Was only used for cutting small sheets of wood so nothing too robust but did what i asked of it. Blade change same as most other jigsaws. Overall a decent little tool for the price, will see how long it lasts.

For the price ok, but not great for angles, fine for straight lines.

Jigsaw received and immediately put to work cutting 4" x 1" timber fencing. Performs very well, the vibration at the hand grip is damped down quite well and the blade (supplied) is universal for wood only. The blade itself is firmly clamped in a twin screw holder with a roller underneath to guide and support while cutting. Motor cooling air is exhausted out just behind the blade to clear wood chips from the cutting line which is very useful! I have awarded 4 stars as the blade clamping screws can fall out when loosening the clamp to change the blade - they are fiddly to put back! Also there is no centre mark on the front of the baseplate to assist straight line cuts (I made my own with a paint pen - so can you!). I should add that my old unit would never cut in a straight line from new and was just short of twice the price of this B&D unit! A good solid unit for the occasional DIY'er at a price not to turn your nose up at - recommended!
