It works well as a legitimate blanket. It is quite pleasant to the touch, and thick enough for a fall night.

I wouldn't use it as a rug; it's not quite thick enough for that. But I supposed if it didn't get much wear I might work ok. Yes, you can vacuum it with out damage, but again, I wouldn't use it as a rug - it's better as a throw for a sofa or love seat.
