I am looking for a Paddle brush to blow dry medium texture hair without pulling my hair(s) out. Are the pins ball point?

They ends are ball points but, not a strong ball point if that makes sense. I love this brand of brushes. I have 4 different styles. I believe you would be happy with this purchase. Good luck!

I want to use this while I dry my daughters hair (she doesn't like a round brush). Can it be used with heat to help straighten as I dry it?

Yes you could use it whilst blow drying her hair. It may hp to straighten as you dry it but not like straighteners. I use a round brush first then this one to finish off whilst blow drying. It works for me and I have naturally curly hair.
