Helps SIBO symptoms
I have SIBO, so gas pain is part of my daily life. I used gas x, peppermint oils, and all the anti-gas meds on the market, but Beano is the one I return to. I've tried a couple other digestive enzymes since it's not perfect and I do still have mild pain and burping on bad flare days, but this still gives the most consistent results. It helps it's a flavorless chewable, so I can just pop a few in my mouth and chew without needing a drink when out and about at like a festival and I just want to grab hotdog or getting munchy on a car ride.

Beano is a dietary supplement, not a medication
Beano is an over-the-counter dietary supplement designed to help prevent gas, bloating, and discomfort caused by eating certain foods. It contains a natural enzyme called alpha-galactosidase (α-GAL). How Beano Works Many healthy foods, such as beans, vegetables (like broccoli, cabbage, and onions), and whole grains, contain complex carbohydrates (oligosaccharides and polysaccharides) that your body can't fully digest on its own. When these undigested carbohydrates reach the large intestine, bacteria break them down, producing gas as a byproduct. Beano's alpha-galactosidase enzyme works in your digestive tract to break down these complex carbohydrates into simpler, more easily digestible sugars before they reach your colon. This process helps prevent gas from forming in the first place. Key Uses and Benefits Gas Prevention: Beano is specifically used to prevent gas, bloating, and discomfort associated with eating gas-producing foods. Digestive Support: It helps your body digest foods more efficiently, reducing occasional digestive discomfort. Wide Range of Foods: While commonly associated with beans, Beano can help with a variety of foods, including: Vegetables: Broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, corn, lettuce, onions, peppers, Brussels sprouts, beets, leeks. Legumes: Beans (black-eyed peas, chickpeas, lima beans, pinto beans, kidney beans), lentils, peanuts, and soy products. Grains: Whole-grain breads, pasta, oat bran, barley, rye, sorghum grain, breakfast cereals, granola. How to Take Beano It's important to take Beano at the right time for it to be effective: When to Take: Take Beano right before your first bite of the gas-causing food, or as you are eating it. Taking it too late might not give the enzyme enough time to work. Dosage: The typical recommended dose is 2-3 tablets per meal, or 1 tablet per serving of problem food. You might need to adjust the number of tablets based on the amount of gas-causing food you consume. Formulations: Beano is available in tablets (which can be swallowed whole or chewed) and "Meltaways" (strawberry-flavored tablets that dissolve on your tongue). Heat Sensitivity: The enzyme in Beano can be inactivated by high heat, so do not cook with Beano or add it to hot foods. Important Considerations and Side Effects Not a Drug: Beano is a dietary supplement, not a medication. Allergies: If you have a rare sensitivity to the ingredients (which can be derived from Aspergillus niger, a fungus), discontinue use. Individuals with galactosemia should consult their doctor before using Beano. Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: While there's no information to suggest Beano is unsafe during pregnancy or breastfeeding, it's always recommended to consult your doctor before use if you are pregnant or nursing. Diabetes: Beano breaks down complex sugars into simpler ones. While it adds a small number of carbohydrates, diabetics should consult their physician regarding its use and how it might affect blood glucose levels. Side Effects: Beano is generally well-tolerated. Rare side effects can include allergic reactions (rash, hives, itching, swelling) or minor gastrointestinal discomfort. If you experience severe or persistent side effects, contact your doctor. Gas-X vs. Beano: It's important to note that Beano works differently than gas relief products like Gas-X (which contains simethicone). Beano prevents gas by breaking down indigestible sugars, while simethicone helps break up existing gas bubbles. Always talk to your pharmacist or doctor before starting Beano or any new supplement, especially if you have existing medical conditions or are taking other medications.

This stuff is great.
I have been using Ozempic for the past 2 years. While it has been benificial, it has not been nice to my gut. I have tried many things over the years with minimal success. Then, I recently tried Beeno. It has been the best thing I've used so far. I'm not sure when I should take, so I take it before every meal. You can chew them. I prefer to swallow them with a little water. Give it a try. You won't regret it.

Works for many, but not me
Despite my low rating, there's nothing to fault the product or manufacturer about, this is simply a reflection of my own experience with the product. It seems to work great for many, but not at all like some - myself included. The tablets are chewable and have a pleasant sweet taste to them, I find nothing unpleasant about taking them. The problem is that for me, they just don't help. I know this because I am a very monotonous eater and tend to eat the same thing for weeks at a time with very little deviation. So I can clearly compare how I feel when taking these vs. taking nothing. The difference is basically nil. I would say at the very most this perhaps delays gas by a few hours, but it always comes eventually. Now, I will say that I have a pretty challenging diet in the sense that I eat a lot of gas-producing foods, including beans, lentils, cruciferous veggies, and garlic. In fact, I eat an entirely plant-based diet, so tons of fruits, veggies, whole grains, beans, seeds, spices, etc. All of that for me adds up to gas and more gas. While my overall health has been excellent since adopting this way of eating years ago, my one complaint (and my family's one complaint!) is the gas. I've tried soaking beans, drinking more water, and other things that are supposed to help, but outside of simply cutting way back on the beans and greens that are at the core of my diet, there's not much else I can do. I don't want to give up the health that's conferred by these items so my plan was to fix it in another way. I had tried Beano when I first started this years ago and it didn't work, but I thought, hey, let's try it again. I also take probiotics now so I thought maybe my gut has changed enough that having the additional help of Beano could actually make a difference. And I'd also read that one can take more than the recommended dose and that there shouldn't be any issues no matter how high you go, so I figured, why not? So, last week, I purchased these, and started taking two at the beginning of each of my 3 meals (I don't snack in between meals). Despite not having any gas for much of the day, starting in the evening, it came on and kept coming on the whole evening and during the night as well, which is somewhat normal for me, although it can vary a bit by degrees depending on the type of beans and how much garlic is in a given meal. After a few days on just two tablets, I stepped up to 3, then the next day 4, then 5, and finally yesterday was 6. That's three times the normal dose! And really no difference between 2 and 6 as far as I could tell. As I mentioned, there might be a slight delay in the gas coming on, as I don't notice it as much during the day, which is of course a positive, but overall the gas still comes. Some people somehow feel that their experience is THE experience and they think a product is "junk" because thy didn't have any luck with it, but especially when it comes to supplements, I think this is a somewhat ridiculous stance to take. We all have different bodies with different diets, health conditions, ages, microbiomes, and countless other variances that make predicting how a given item is going to work for you individually very difficult to say the least! So I would simply say that I can't recommend this product, but I also can't NOT recommend it, because for all I know it could work extremely well for someone who's reading this review. I was torn as to what to rate it because while it really didn't work at all for me, I can't tell you whether you will have a 1-star experience or a 5-star experience, it's just that individual! And I don't want to make it seem like the product is "bad" or "junk" but rather simply something that didn't work for ME. I do think it's important for people to read a variety of both positive and negative reviews and get the sense that the product as a 95% success rate (as the current ratings distribution suggests), because even if that rate is ultimately true, it doesn't really have much baring on whether you will have luck with it or not. So yeah, it may be very likely to work for you, and yet you should still be very prepared for it not to work at all. In a sense we are all experimenting on ourselves with diet and supplements and if one thing doesn't work, just move on to the next. That being said, if you can find a smaller container of this product for less money, it might be worth opting for that instead until you know that it WILL work for you. For me, the price tag wasn't horrible enough and the relatively large quantity gave me the flexibility to go up to 6 pills per meal at the end. In science no experiment is really a failure because they all teach you something, and as long as you understand there's no guarantee of success, you can decide whether you want to part with your money for what is essentially a gamble. If not, then don't, but if you're willing to lose a little in the hope that it may make a significant difference to the equality of your life, well, nominal fees sometimes is the price we pay for bettering our overall health and quality of life. Nothing in this world is free, or guaranteed for that matter!

This is a miracle medicine for people who have difficulty digesting foods like beans, cabbage family vegetables(Cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts) , onion and garlic. This is just an enzyme some of us are missing in our stomach/ digestive tract. This enzyme helps with digestion. Absolutely no side effects. Only thing is you have to take this table 15-20 min before eating a meal. It keeps a check on your stomach and a happy gut. I highly recommend this product.
