My son is 6'6".. will these be too short if he wants them below the knee?

I'm 6'9" with a 38-40" inseam, depending on the brand. These shorts are just about the only thing I wear March-November. They sit just at or below my knees.

I am looking for a lightweight short for my father who sometimes complains of cargo shorts being too heavy. Are these lightweight?

I've worn several different types of cargo shorts and out of everything, these are a medium thickness. They are light thickness as far as cotton goes. However, I've had even lighter ones that are either cotton blends or polyester.

I can say that the ones I bought have been through the wash & dryer and have shrunk slightly but not significant by any means. If I bought again, which I will, I would not take this into consideration when choosing size.
