They have some stretch to the waistband, so they feel nice and comfortable. The areas with accordion stretch panels are awesome. I love the attention to detail that these pants have - they are well sewn, and I love the addition of an extra snap that complements the primary fly button. The zipper opens and closes smoothly (I had ordered a different brand's jeans and the zipper was just junk). The jeans themselves feel soft, and the lining of the pockets is smooth and made of high quality fabric. For me, the knee pads sit right where they are supposed to, and the hip pads feel great. When you first put these jeans on, they may feel a bit on the long side, but when you're in the seated position on your bike, that bit of extra length is made so that the cuff goes properly over your boots and you don't wind up with drafts of wind going up your pant legs. Have l ruined their protective qualities?** A: All depends on how hot you washed and dried them. If you use high heat and they shrunk armor might have a problem fitting back in to the slots. The waterproofing abilities have probably been reduced however this can be fixed again by getting any waterproofing product and spraying it on the jeans. They are very true to size and also are quite stretchy and comfortable. I could have actually gone down a size cause of the spandex stretchy capability of them.
