This oil filter appears to be a genuine Kohler part, and, along with the slightly shorter black one, apparently fits just about any and all late model Kohler small engines. The answers to the many q&a's regarding "will it fit my .....?" all seem to bear this out. The only difference (other than the color) between this filter and the black one sold by Kohler is the length, giving this one a slightly larger capacity and, presumably, a little longer filtering life. (You will also have to use slightly more oil). So, as long as your Kohler powered equipment has physical space for this yellow filter, you should be able to use it, even if your equipment came with the shorter black filter. Conversely, if your equipment gets light or moderate use, and you change your filter along with your oil every year or season of use, you will probably do just fine using the black filter even if your Kohler engine came with the yellow one. The difference in price is negligible. I do not understand the complaint that some of the inner filtering material is plastic. Plastic is superior to metal in many applications. Has anyone actually had the plastic in an oil filter disintegrate and send plastic into their engine as one reviewer seems to fear? And, acknowledging that everyone is free to choose their preferences, I would not worry too much about the "made in China" paranoia. Yes, some products made in China are junk, but iphones are made in China and I don't hear many complaints of them being "cheap junk" It is up to Kohler to insure quality control of any of its products, regardless of where they are made. Cheap junk is, unfortunately, made in the U.S. as well. An additional note: If you like using a ratchet wrench cap to both install and remove your oil filter, the correct size for this filter is a 15 flute 72 mm cap. If you have trouble finding a 72 mm one, a 73 mm 15 flute cap is a looser fit, but will work.
