About Face: The Essentials of Interaction Design

A must read for interaction designer!

This book helps you know the importance of design process in any organisation. I feel it's a perfect book for the people who wanted to start with UX.

Some reviews have bashed the paper and print quality so I was afraid that it would be a total waste of money. But that's not the case. Paper is thin yes. But it doesn't cause any problem. It's opaque enough and strong enough. Kinda similar to the paper newspapers are printed on.The text is sharp and clear. Images are black and white. And the only places where print quality causes a problem is where images are dark. There you have to put in a bit of effort to see what's there on the screenshots of interfaces. But the images are captioned so not that big a deal.

I strongly recommend this book for all those who need an in-depth understanding in Interaction Design.

Definitely the most essential book on Interaction Design :)

Although the theory behind the persona building is pretty robust with a whole chapter dedicated to it there isn't one example persona to look at. This is inspite of the authors claiming to have worked on hundreds of interaction design projects. Maybe they don't want to give it away and perhaps want to save it for their paid course on personas.

It is a big book, so I suggest you take your time and underline whatever you find useful. But it is a great book to get the feel into interaction design. Every chapter teaches you something valuable and applicable on any project you might have.

Great book, I bought this for my masters in Human-Centered Interactive Technologies and it was really useful for some of the modules i did. The book is great value for money and the illustrations are useful, especially for a visual learner.

4th edition of the best user experience book ever written. If you are looking to have a deep understanding of what user experience really is, how users think and how to design great experiences that will last throughout UX fads of the month, this is the book you need.If you want to know how many pixels you should keep between a label and a field, this book is not for you. You should not worry too much about that anyway.
