The Rock and Gem Book: And Other Treasures of the Natural World (DK Our World in Pictures)

This is a beautifully illustrated book and has lots of interesting information about rocks, minerals, fossils, and shells! I gave the book to my grandson for his birthday and I hope it will build his interest in rocks. I loved reading it and may order another copy for myself!

Great visual book. Good for the people that aren't nerdy, in-depth readers. The visuals will keep the reader hooked with enough reading that's concise and easy to digest. I like giving this book to people that are curious about rocks and minerals.

Loved the organization of the different gems and minerals. Each one got a page with lots of pictures and descriptions. My daughter was very interested and uses this book almost daily to check what kind of rocks she has and to learn more info on each one. Highly recommend it for all rock hounds.

Excellent guide for anyone interested in rock collecting, geology/earth sciences, etc. Very informative and interesting to read!

Warning: I’ve never held a DK book I didn’t like. The “Our World In Pictures” series is outstanding for parent-child reading at just about any age, i.e. the child looks at the pictures while the parent reads/talks or teaches them to read. I purchased three from this series and they’re all excellent. Careful, once you know about these book you’ll never have an excuse to make the TV a baby sitter again. 😉

All the books by this author use BCE/CE which is confusing for a child who has already learned the original wording. Doesn't keep my child's interest as much as I thought it might. The cover is a lot more appealing then the text. But I also like gemstones in general so maybe I'm biased. It's not terribly captivating even as an adult but I will still keep it for science reference.

O livro é muito bom. Explica bem a formação das rochas e a grande variedade de pedras do planeta. Para quem gosta de aprender coisas novas é um passatempo divertido.
