Life Changing!! Get This Book
Like they say, when the student is ready the teacher appears. I met Zonya at an Expo 13 years ago when my children were young. Immediately, Ifelt her energy and inspired focus on health and nutrition.I've enjoyed Lickety Split Meals also. I used it when the kids were young. Now they are out of the house and I still use it both for myself and when entertaining. This book, though, is not just about health and food; it is about life and how it starts with the power of one good habit. The name of my business, coincidentally, is The First Step where I help clients make the changes they want for themselves step by step. My business is about 8 years old - so I was delighted by her approach - because it jived so much with mine. The timing of this book in my life was perfect. . . . making changes is not nearly as daunting as it often appears. If you're ready to find things that work for your health and fit them effortlessly into your day -I suggest you read this book.Buy it - you'll read it again and again. Take it slowly. Savor it.And even if you don't think you're ready, you may be surprised by how comfortable and motivated you can be about simply enjoying your health by doing it YOUR way. . . easily. . . all in YOUR own time!!I can't say enough about how great this book is. You really owe it to yourself to check it out.

Good read
If you are a non fiction reader this book reads slowly. If you are a novel reader you will enjoy the drag on. Purchased this for my mother.

A believer of this book!
I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the characters and I like the way the habits were introduced. It would have been overwhelming to have them all at once, so I thought it was perfect the way it was done. Now the storyline, sometimes I wish would have been a bit faster (because it is a novel) but it is an inspiring quick read that lays the points out beautifully. Some people were saying the role of the baby and the husband was pointless and wastes of time. I disagree. I think the point of the baby was to let you know that anyone -- even new moms -- can do this. Those of you with small children know how much work they are (I have a 22-mo old) And the point of the husband was said in the book. He was Karen's wall. His abusive behavior would cause her to reach for the comfort foods. Everyone has a wall of some type, be it a sick loved one, school, bills, job, or anything that makes you reach for the chips, ice cream, cookies, cakes, liquor or whatever substance of your choice. so an abusive husband was hers and she was able to deal with it and break down that wall. I am definitely glad I read this one and will definitely be using the principles here to slim down.

The Missing Piece of the Puzzle
I have read many diet books, purchased many fitness products, but would always get so frustrated when I didn't stick to anything. This book has helped me by giving me a missing puzzle piece - PATIENCE - focusing one small step at a time until it becomes a habit. I am impatient - I hate my extra weight and want to lose it all NOW. But I've been wanting that now for at least 2 years, and it hasn't happened because I am so impatient - I jump from one diet/fitness product to another when the results don't show up in a few days/weeks. My impatience has actually slowed/stopped my progress! So if I do the one step process, at least 2 years from now I will be at a healthy weight that I can sustain. Thank you Zonya and Stephen for your very helpful book!

Only Three Stars for Me
I loved how the health tips are placed in a story. I love this style because it is not like a 'diet' book (I also enjoyed 'Help! My Underwear is Shrinking). The writing is not perfect but it's hard to write a health book in a story. There were some great tips. I battle obesity and I'm sick of diets. This book has propelled me in a better direction. The three (instead of five stars):What I didn't love was the abusive husband- we open our story with him literally locking her and the baby out for the NIGHT and the neighbors only wanted to help her lose weight!?! No one was like, 'sweetheart this is called abuse and it isn't good for you or the baby'. Seriously.I would have loved to see Karen implement these weekly ideas at home with challenges (because no one has a baby that sleeps as much as that baby did in the story).Karen was whiny. Girl, get some gumption. If I had to read the words..... 'The Power of One' one more time I was going to scream!!! We get it. We get it.

A friend on your journey
I read Water with Lemon as another attempt to lose weight. It is the story of a woman that finds herself in the same situation as many of us are in. She thinks the same things, says the same things, makes the same mistakes but the difference is she has found someone to show her the way on her journey to health. That's how I felt after reading this book. I have found someone to help me to know how to live in such a way that I will "gain health through nutrition". The loss of weight, letting your body find it's natural way of being will be an added bonus but is not the goal. Putting a novelist and a nutritionist together was inspired action. I wish I had read this book years ago.

Common Sense Meets Easy Read
I was so glad to finally get my hands on a copy of this book! I found it educational and inspiring as well as entertaining. The book was a great blend. It was very informative, but there was just enough of a story line to make it enjoyable to read. I find that the ideas in the book are simple and straightforward. I've already begun to incorporate some of these habits into my lifestyle. I hope to one day purchase more copies of "Water with Lemon..." to give to friends when they ask me what "diet" I've been on. :)
