Digitally remastered two CD set containing Commander Cody's three Warner Bros albums from 1975 and 1976. Immensely popular live, this country rock-western swing-rockabilly band couldn't quite achieve great chart success. All three albums here did make the US Top 200, but Cody decided to disband the act in 1976,We've Got A Live One Here! was recorded in England during their tour in January and February 1976.

Three Great Commander Cody Albums- Two Studio, One Live
COMMANDER CODY & HIS LOST PLANET AIRMEN/TALES FROM THE OZONE/WE'VE GOT A LIVE ONE HERE! is a two-disc set comprising three albums by Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen, with the first two being the band's finest studio efforts. The third, WE'VE GOT A LIVE ONE HERE!, while not as highly revered as LIVE FROM DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS, probably because guitarist Bill Kirchen had left, is still a great representation of where the band was at musically when it was recorded. All three albums show deep roots in vintage honky-tonk country and rockabilly, as well as a GREAT sense of humor, thus proving the difference between a novelty act, who'd use humor to disguise a lack of musical ability, and these guys, who truly CAN play like their lives depend on it.Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen, along with New Riders Of The Purple Sage, played a type of country-rock that combined great chops with a sense of humor. If you love country-rock, DO NOT PASS THIS CD UP.

Underated Band
Bought my first Cody Album in 1971 "Ozone" and was blown away by "20 Flight Rock." Always a great band to listen to with a good buzz. This Three album set is no exception. Love the cover of "Willin" . But the variety of songs and styles is great and as always I always thought that live this band was great. Too bad they never got they're due but they're music always sounds good because it's never been overplayed and always sounds fresh.

Good sound; great music!
I haven't had these three records since the original albums wore out or got lost in a move over the past half-century. What a treat to have them back! I guess we all know that CD sound is really a step down, but these sound very good. And no more needle skips or various pops that we became used to. And all at a real bargain price!

Great value
I never had Commander Cody in my record collection, so I bought this 3 album compilation. The music is actually very good, but more country than southern rock influenced. Even saying that, it is much like a survey of Americana influences on country music and rock with lots of songs telling stories rather than the usual boy-meets-girl songs. The first album Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen is something I first saw and wanted because of the epic album art and it was the band's first major label release. The live album will give you the early hits. I think this is a better value of the best songs by Commander Cody rather than buying a greatest hits.

The Warner Brothers era
This BGO release collects all three of the albums that Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen did for Warner Brothers in 1975 and 1976. The two studio albums, Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen and Tales From the Ozone had both been previously released on cd separately on Wounded Bird Records in 2003. We've Got A Live One Here! was previously released on cd in 1996 on Warner Archives. I have the previous cd versions and the versions here don't sound too different although the dropout on California Okie is a teeny bit worse. As far as the albums themselves, they're really great. While the band's first four albums on Paramount Records are classics, the Warner Brothers era continued the streak even if the label rode the band to a premature end. These albums are a great mix of covers and originals like Don't Let Go, Southbound, Minnie The Moocher, Lost In the Ozone, California Okie, Willin', Seeds and Stems Again as well as Hot Rod Lincoln. Now if only BGO could put out remastered versions of the band's Paramount albums while expanding Deep In the Heart of Texas to how the band originally wanted to release it.

Three More Must Haves !!
This three album set is a really good set all in two CDs ! I've been listening to them from the beginning. I think the two regular albums are as good as any of the others. I probably like the two live albums from the Armadillo the best, but this double live album is a real fine listen too ! The sound is very good . It's too bad they don't put the original album covers somewhere in the booklet, especially the self titled with the spaceman etc. This collection is truly five stars !! Enjoy !!

the greatest american rock and roll band ever...at their best!
this is really great and brings back so many memories.i found these in CD format a few years back but they were lousy compared to this. a couple actually wore out. this has full strong song and you need that with eight instruments playing at the same time!!! i see this just came out this year so i sure hope they do this with the other earlier studio albums. i just looked and they released a two-fer 'Hot Licks, Cold Steel & Truckers Favorites / Country Casanova and it is available on cassette only for $50...i really hope they re-release that one.

OK, but I love others more.
I love this band on the CD's I already have, but this collection let me down. Didn't have the energy or the song quality of my other recordings.
