Buy Methods & Theories of Art History Third Edition 3rd ed. by D'Alleva, Anne, Cothren, Michael (ISBN: 9781913947026) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Goes far beyond the textbook standard; a great read. - I purchased this book going into my second year studying Art History at university, especially with the goal to understand the theories, (and history of these theories), which until now haven't been so widely covered by my teachers. The authors take great care to ensure the readership understand the basics and inevitably, the harder concepts too. Definitions are simply put but also encourage great discussion. As well as being a very helpful and comprehensive guide to theories, such as feminist, Marxist, psychoanalytic etc, I would say this guide's greatest strength is its ability to challenge and create interpretive debate. It is not written verbatim. I can honestly say it's allowed me to not just understand the ideas but also ask how/why we use them and even theorise myself as to if there are better approaches to make. As such, the authors go beyond the textbook standard and create a guide that can also encourage the student organically. As every teacher should no doubt. Certainly a very handy book to take with you to class and incorporate into your essays. Thank you! Review: Enjoyable, well written collection
