Very good little unit!
All of my GL.Inet router have always performed perfectly. This is another great unit. Nothing bad to say at all. Keeps a good solid LTE connection and Wifi connections. No problem with connection dropping. Only gripe would be I wish they made a CAT12 modem that you could upgrade it with.

This is a good value.
I am pleasantly surprised with the performance and versatility of this device. Like the previous reviewer said follow the unbrick instructions for the latest OpenWRT.

Outdated OpenWRT 15.05.1 firmware
1. Outdated OpenWRT 15.05.1 firmware ,it is no longer maintained by OpenWrt.2. it would not able update to Openwrt 17.x , 19.x, 21.x due to unsupported / outdated Wifi hardware driver3. Newest released firmware 3.x by glnet, it still base on the OpenWRT 15.x , there is no plan to update to 19.x4. GL custom WireGuard client and server are terrible , it didn’t show up on the Interface , you cannot make any firewall rule changes , it reload each time

Old OpenWRT - Can't Update to OpenWrt 21
As another reviewer indicated, this model is based on OpenWrt 15. Normally gl.iNet products can be updated to the stock OpenWrt software but this one can't. It's a nice device for single-purpose single access point networks but not really much else.

No SMS Forward Option for built-in LTE Modem
Very disappointed to realize that there is No SMS Forward Option for built-in LTE Modem. Is it a bug that will be fixed in the next release of firmware?

Excellent 4G LTE Gateway and Router with Commercial-Grade Antenna
The Gl.iNet Cirrus LTE Router and Gateway is well made, aggressively priced and fast. The commercial-grade dual antennas make a mesh networking system unnecessary for my home. The 4G LTE modem connects with towers near me with stability and speed. With T-Mobile, it achieved speeds of 80 Mbps, while with AT&T, it achieved 40 Mbps. When connected to my Google Fiber Webpass WAN, it achieved speeds over 1 GBPs, and the LAN port is Gigabit Ethernet, so it’s fast enough for Ultra HD 4K HDR streaming. There are a few things that could be improved. Like the other reviewer, inbound SMS would be nice to have, but isn’t necessary. I really wish there was more than 1 Gigabit Ethernet LAN port or that WiFi 6 or 6e was available. I wish external cellular antenna ports were available to improve cellular range since the Quectel EC25 4G LTE modem is only Cat 4. Otherwise, Cirrus LTE is priced very competitively and is the best 4G LTE gateway and router I’ve used, even compared to a major competitor that costs at least twice as much. Gl.iNet support forums are excellent for any questions I’ve had, including issuing AT Commands to the modem to force connection to specific LTE Bands. I’m really happy with Cirrus LTE and recommend it for anyone who uses cellular Internet as their primary ISP or as a redundant backup to their landline terrestrial Internet service.

Works great. New firmware 3.203 supports messaging.
I’m really happy with the Gl.iNet GL-AP1300 Cirrus. It works great and firmware updates continue to improve the router. The most recent update May 2021 version 3.203 enables cellular messaging with the SIM card from the web portal for device management. I have no other concerns and hope Gl.iNet will release a newer version with 5G support, 10000Base-T Ethernet, and Wifi 6e.

Works with latest OpenWRT
I saw two reviewers that were complaining about not being able to install latest OpenWRT. The way to do this is to follow the "unbrick" method -- hold reset button while powering on, until the main LED stops blinking (5 blinks), then go to 192.168.1.1 and upload your firmware. That being said, I tried (with OpenWRT, haven't tried the stock FW) to get mesh networking to work and I gave up after a few days. It does set it up and connect initially, but the signal seems to be weak, and it would never reconnect once it disconnects. Also, even if they are 30cm apart, connected in mesh, if you run a big transfer across (via nc, for example) it will crash sooner or later. Seems to be kernel/driver related.Compared to a few other devices I own it doesn't have the strongest of signals, maybe the model with internal antennas would be better (mine is WiFi only). My walls are very tick so I chose the solution with multiple APs mostly serving 5GHz (one room) so now my signal strength is excellent (because there is a router hanging on the wall in every room :)).Another thing to point out is that the router case is sealed -- you can't open them. They have screws, which don't seem to do much. If you're really hell bent on opening it, you'll destroy the case (maybe the screws will hold it together). So I'd suggest it (for OpenWRT) unless you care about Mesh. I ended up laying a bunch of wires with a PoE switch, which works beautifully.
