The Busy Beaver (Life in the Wild, 3)

A fun read
I know my son enjoys this book, but I just love it! It is one of my favorite books to read to him. We've been reading it since he was 1 years old and I still enjoy it (he is now 2.5). It is well written, has a wonderful message, and I personally like the simple drawings. The writing is enjoyable and I can read it over and over (unlike some kids books that are just painful to read). We have other books by this author and they are not all as good as this one. The other favorite is "Big Bear Hug". It focuses on the bear and also has a very positive message. I recommend these 2; the others don't read as well.

Cute book about beavers for young children.
My granddaughter loves to have animals that go with books. Found the beaver but this good book was harder to find.

Where was this book when I was growing up?
With cheesecake like the beaver on the cover, who wouldn't instantly fall in love with this book? I think this beaver must have immigrated to Canada from South Africa because the Gods were crazy there. He's having trouble learning to adjust to Life in the Wild. Let's just say that he's part of the problem and not part of the solution to climate change before he wises up.

Inaccurate depictions of wildlife, but still surprisingly tolerable
Less annoying than most books that could, but don't, teach kids about the natural world. Shows animals walking upright, predator/prey "friendship," and various anthropomorphic errors. But at least the animals aren't wearing pants or eating tacos. Still, the beaver climbing a tree really bugs me. (beavers don't climb trees) Dunno why the bear playing electric guitar doesn't bug me (prob bc he looks like he's awesome at it). I usually exile this kind of dumbed-down crapola fromm my kids library but somehow this one has stayed. The moral is good - plan ahead, pay attention to the consequences of your actions, don't be careless. Also I'm a fan of any book where they fall asleep at the end.

Does not portray beavers realistically
This book is entertaining to a small child and reinforces the need to work carefully. However it teaches nothing about the real nature of beavers in the wild. So it should be backed up with another educational beaver book. Amazon has several of those.

Great book, but small
Great story. Just expected it to be a bit bigger. My fault for not reading the description better. But love the story.
