This works by exchanging the heat in the wort when the coil in submerged in the hot liquid. This will however replace the ice bath all together. I chill wort from 200 degrees to 70 in about 15 minutes. Results will vary a little depending on the temperature of your tap water. **Q: Is the outside diameter of the coil exactly 9.00" or is it smaller/bigger than 9.00"? Depends somewhat on the ambient temperature. Here in Florida getting final temperature very low is difficult but this cooler helps a lot. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ coil *by D***P on March 30, 2024* im not using it for what its intended for but works good ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stop thinking about it and buy it *by D***S on March 11, 2021* I've been using an ice bath to chill my wort since I started brewing. Initially I was just broke but for the last year or so I've just been cheap. On top of that, every review on every chiller said they leaked, ruined the beer with hose water (sus), etc. I finally pulled the trigger and bought this chiller and figured I'd fix any leaks when I tested it.This came with everything I needed to hook it up to my hose right out of the box. If you use a sink you will need to get an adapter. IT DIDN'T LEAK. I made zero adjustments. I hooked it up, tightened the hose clamps down TIGHT, and pumped water into it. No leaks. Maybe the people who complain about this leaking don't wrench down their hose clamps enough but it legit didn't leak a drop. I went from chilling my wort in like an hour, to chilling it to 70F degrees in like 20 minutes. Chilling the wort like this also made it much more even. There aren't any hot spots to surprise you when you pitch your yeast and find out the wort's actually at 90F. This is hands down the best piece of equipment I have added to my setup. Stop thinking about buying it and do it.
