Pricey but worth it for swelling management post ACL surgery
My teen daughter had ACL and meniscus surgery 6 months ago and has had challenges managing swelling, scar tissue, and range of motion (extension) since then. The swelling is especially prominent following physiotherapy despite applying cold compression.In consultation with her physio and massage therapists, they suggested this specific brace. I was skeptical but gave it a shot. After just a few days of wearing it 15+ hours per day (one day for 24 hrs), her knee's swelling has visibly reduced and her knee extension dropped from +4 deg to +2 deg!Each case may be different and best to seek medical advice, but this brace, despite the relatively steep price, is working for my daughter. Our only regret is not having bought this sooner.P.S. regarding size. Her upper leg diameter falls into size 5 brace but her lower leg into size 4. Although Bauerfeind states to select the size dictated by the upper leg, she (and the therapists) have found it a touch loose from the knee downward minimizing the effects of the compression. We returned it. In short, we bought Size 4, and the fit is snug in the thigh area but still comfortable and clearly effective.
