HELLA 012588061 Motorcycle Series Black 12V Disc Horn (Universal Fit-Single Blister Pack)

These are a great replacement for single horns on a motorcycle. There are slightkly smaller than full size horns, so they are easier to fit in tight spots, & your get the high & low sounds, so they are louder than stock. They don't come with any wiring, so you will just have to make 2 small extension wires, for the second horn, if you are replacing a single horn. Well worth it.

I have a vintage 1976 Honda 550 Four, a beautiful bike, perfect in every way except for the pitiful excuse for a horn. In all fairness, there weren’t as many alternatives back then and the cartoon Roadrunner “meep-meep“ was pretty standard for a stock horn. So I bought this Hella 2-horn set as a replacement, and Holy Moly, it literally hurt my ears! The dog was barking and my wife was shouting, and my ears were ringing after a quick toot. Only it’s not a toot, it’s a big loud 2-tone roar that should penetrate the cab of every car and truck within a block. I wired it with a relay, to assure full volume, and it was pretty easy to figure out. I’d recommend this blaster to anyone.

I am reviewing the two horn kit that includes both high & low tone horns. I installed these on my 2013 Honda NC700X to replace the stock horn. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. They are only slightly louder than the OEM horn (maybe 2x - 3x louder), but the two individual tones combine to produce a distinctive sound that will easily get the attention of other drivers. The horns draw a maximum of 1.5 amps each (3 A total), so I was able to install them without an additional relay on the horn switch. The included mounting brackets made it easy to mount them in the same location as the OEM horn. Time will tell how waterproof they are, or how long they will last. They came nicely packaged in a little box, with cardboard dividing the middle so that the two horns don't scratch against each other. A mounting bolt or electrical connectors are not included. Suggest searching Amazon for "6.3 mm spade connector" for wiring. I made a custom split wiring harness to connect them to the OEM wiring (see photos).

I just finished the install last night. horns work well, both tones are kind of high, but they are different so the effect is the sound has some body to it. had to modify mounting on my motorcycle because if the horns are pressed against anything (including each other) they are severely muffled so the wiring below the headlight was an issue. once contact to other components was eliminated the horns sounded ok. volume is sufficient, but they don't seem to be noticeably louder than other horns.

The metal mounting point snapped after only a few months. Probably fine for road-only motorcycles but definitely doesn't last for adventure bikes. Decent horn otherwise, not terribly loud though.

Nice sound pretty loud

My wife says “they’re obnoxious”. I said “good!” Considerably louder than stock. Pretty easy install. If the other drivers can’t hear you they’re purposely ignoring you.

I was expecting some stronger and heavier sound, considering the prescription, but this set is for smaller cars. It reminds me of “beep beep woody woodpecker cartoons”.
