simply works
Simply works with my mini-sas/mini-sas-hd cable and SAS 9300-8i HBA. It also looks solid.

AVOID!!!! Fan stopped working, fried my drives!
The fans stopped working and now I have 2 out of 4 drives failing! Avoid this product! I should have paid more attention to the other reviews. The main fan powers up for only a few seconds when powered on and the power supply fan pulses on and off in a really annoying manner. It also does not appear to be compatible with chassis management either.

Not reliable fan stopped working and destroyed overheating disks
At first the unit worked very nicely , easy to connect good performance but after 3 months the cooling fan of the disks stopped working and the disks failed.I bought another unit and again after a month the fan stopped working but this time 2 HD where destroyed.Another problem , the unit dose not relate HD temperatures to the system so you don't know if you are in good working condition. this is very bad if you need 24/7 reliable system.

Cooling fan not working
The hard drives' S.M.A.R.T alerted me for high temperature (127 degree F!) and the back 80mm cooling fan wasn't even running. It could fry my hard drives. The cooling fan did blow for a few seconds when the enclosure powered on and that was Only time it turns. I think the fan control circuit was not working (maybe the thermal register/diode is dead if there is one). This is a mini-SAS enclosure for a file server and the fan should be always running like the one on server, at least in low speed. Attached a server fan at the back to force cooling it.

A Product that would have been OK if not for a critical design flaw.
I, like others, encountered the fan shutting off problem. This is not a user error, I did not mistakenly press any buttons, for whatever reason after several hours the cooling fan just shuts off. This resulted in one of the two units I purchased shutting itself off with four high priority drives in it for a TrueNAS build and nearly destroying my data.Do. Not. Buy.
