Does this smell bad enough that it wouldn't work for indoor plants?

It smells pretty funky when first applied, but dissipates within 24 hrs. My cats and dogs become super curious about where the fish smell is coming from, so be careful with them around your plants after you apply.

What is the difference between this and the 2-4-1?

I am confused with the instructions. I have plants in a 5 gallon container (peppers, tomatoes, and jalapeños) how much of it am I supposed to add?

It's 1/8 cup per gallon of water. So if you put one gallon of water in your watering can, you add 1/8 fertilizer. It's not gallons as in the size of your bucket.

Can this be used to feed tomato and pepper plants being grown hydroponically?

I don't know.I think it goes bad after you mix it with water after a few days.It is meant for soil only.
