Great quality gears with zero noise
This is a fantastic set of gears that were very close to the factory specs. The 10 bolt in my 90 suburban had been incorrectly set up by a previous owner and needed a full overhaul. This included new bearings, new Yukon duragrip carrier, gears, axle shafts etc. I’ve never rebuilt an axle or set up gears but this process was not hard at all. After measuring, the pinion was able to use the factory shim and the new carrier only required a little adjustment of the shims. First thing I noticed was how quiet these gears are. When I’m ready to do the front differential (not in use currently) I will be going with Yukon gears again.

Great for me 500 miles in
Sounds like a bunch of people don't know how to install gears let alone read the paper work.. these gears run with a little noise its normal...

Solid
You can definitely tell the difference from the old 3.42 to 4.11 in my Tahoe, not much change in gas mileage but the truck is just much more responsive

Nice gear set.
It took me a long time to figure out what I needed, and eventually called Yukon and they gave me all the part numbers for the gears and bearing sets. I would recommend doing that, had I tried to figure it out myself I would have gotten one of the bearing sets wrong. I am glad I did it and the job took about 8 hours total in a nice shop with a lift to do the front and rear end of a 80's GMC pickup.

Reboxed Chinese Junk
Buyer beware, these may not be true Yukons. Since Yukon is owned by Randy Worldwide, I almost think that these were USA gears or Richmond's and they were put in Yukon boxes. The price was too good to be true. I bought a pair for the front and rear for my Blazer. One box said made in USA, the other said made in China. Upon opening the boxes neither pinion had the checking distance on them. One pinion had no writing other than the writing to make sure that you mated with its ring gear. The other one had a series of letters and numbers which meant nothing to me. There was no information about how to decipher any checking distance from these numbers. Also, the Chinese one was stamped with different numbers and stamping on the ring gear and on the side of the pinion. The American one had a completely different series of stamping, clearly from different tooling which means they did not come from the same place. If they were truly made in the US they would both have the same stamping I would think. All in all they were useless without the checking distance. I wound up going to Summit and buying Motive Gears so that I would know that I got the real deal and not reboxed factory seconds. This set me back a week.

high quality fit
this was for a gm8.5 axle. the spec's on this gear set was near exact to the oem that it used all original shims, only custom made shims could come closer but not needed. during break in no noise nor any heat issue. these replaced a 3.73 set, i needed the 4.11 to help keep my truck in over drive pulling my parachute of a travel trailer. it is funny (not really) that the 3.73 handled a 5th wheel 32 foot and 11,200 gross but not a 21 foot 6800 gross travel trailer.

Impossible to set up for quiet operation. Chinese junk.
Made in china. Impossible to set up for quiet operation. I’ve had this differential apart 6 times test driving with different shims & backlash. I got the perfect wear pattern on the 2nd try and was also the quietest setting. Yukon made in USA was the best. Now its just more chinese junk.

poor quality gm 4.11 8.6
noise after 500km, installed at certified shop, rechecked at certified shop. mechanic says it is all good patterns of contact and all measurements are correct. still a gently whine persists from this gear set. 75/90 synth oil and friction mod fluid. gm 8.6 diff 4.11 gears gm oem posi. 2001 sierra. I would not recomend this product since there is no warranty coverage.
