Finally I found something that keeps ants out of my hummingbird feeders. These little "umbrellas" really do the trick. I used to have to deal with hordes of ants every time I cleaned the feeders, but not anymore. Be sure to keep water in the little cups though. I think that might be the important thing.

This ant trap with the little umbrella at the top works perfectly. We have a hummingbird feeder that already has an ant trap built in at the top, but that ant trap is useless - the ants got right into the feeding ports no matter what we did. We have also tried using additional water-filled ant traps to hang our hummingbird feeder from. The ants also got past them.We hung our hummingbird feeder below this new ant trap with the little umbrella over it, and no ants have ever gotten past it - not one. The umbrella part must be the key to making this work. The umbrella part overhead is wider than the base that holds water. I think that makes all the difference in preventing ants from getting around the trap.The base that holds the water is NOT too small. It is simple to fill with water. You just use a watering can with a spout, and it's easy.We are very, very pleased with this new set-up. And it's just the cutest ant trap, with it's little umbrella. I love the fact that the whole thing is metal, not plastic.Best of all - no more ants ruining the nectar, which makes feeding the hummingbirds so much easier.

I have tried a few different ant moat’s for my hummingbird feeder’s and this one has worked wonders so far! Fingers crossed they continue to keep the ants away! I have already purchased a second set!

I turned what I call the umbrella part of it the opposite way and it seems to works better in my situation.

The media could not be loaded.  Bought this to keep the ants away from my new feeders sugar water. No ants to be seen. I like it. It’s large, made of metal & holds a good amount of water. It’s been real hot here this summer. I do refill it with water about every 3 days. My new feeder is from More Birds on Amazon. It’s great too! Don’t forget to change out your hummingbirds food at the end of the day so it doesn’t ferment in the summer heat. 4 cups water to 1 cup white sugar. Let it cool. Store xtra in the fridge.

I bought one several months ago and it does the trick. I have two hummingbird feeders so I bought another one because the first one worked so well. Before I bought these the ants would get into the feeder but now they don’t. You are supposed to put water in the bowl area but that will eventually cause rust. A friend recommended vegetable oil. So I started using that instead.

The little extra cover made it a problem to fill the moat, this was extra and useless. Overall very well made.
