The Relentless Tenderness of Jesus

I like Brennan Manning, as a rule. Some of his titles like Signature of Jesus are just less personal somehow. This book has me reading and re-reading the same page over and over again. It is full of challenging one liners that you can sit and simmer on for days. I have ordered copies for so many people I cannot keep track.I have lived on the mission field and have run programs for teens, I thought I had wrangled with a lot of this stuff. Relentless Tenderness just keeps getting right in my space and touching the heart where I have been able to dodge it somehow before. There is no dodging this one. It is on par with Ragamuffin Gospel or Posers, Fakers, and Wannabees. Maybe I just needed this right now. It is so relevant, so current, it's hard to believe that he wrote this years ago. This is a right now book for anyone willing to set aside the clutter of ideas for a real life moment that takes your breath away. Enjoy

Recommended.

This book relieved me from the pressure to earn Gods love. It settled my anxiety of not doing enough while simultaneously spurning me to do more for God (but this time in a much healthier and biblical way).

Great book. Difficult f not impossible for me to pray as I should, this book explained and told me Jesus uderstands and still lo loves us.

I have read 4 of Brennans books so far and just in a couple of months.I discovered his books while going through a rough patch with emotions and needed to stay grounded and spiritual.Brennan takes the guilt off our shoulders by explaining the tenderness of God's love for us.He is gone so he cannot write anymore books for us but his passion and concern for us will never end,

Someone (somewhere) said, "Going to church no more makes you a christian than standing in a garage makes you an automobile" I've found this to be true, but Brennan is a true living christian and would be even if he never set foot in a church. I'm sure he had his flaws and weaknesses (don't we all?) but he sets about putting even those to good use. A great and shining leader may indeed inspire you, yet when someone like Brennan does it, I see that I could too. And that, my good reading friend, is a greater inspiration to me. gerbear42

Brennan Manning writes from his heart...a heart of knowledge and experience. 'Though I went from phrase to phrase at times soaking in the tenderness of his writing, I couldn't put the book down. I was spiritually hungry for what the Holy Spirit was saying andI grew in the process of reading. We had it in our personal library and my husband set it out for me to 'find'. The books I purchased are for others who may be searching in their hearts for "the relentless tenderness of Jesus".

The book arrived 10 days late, perhaps the fault of the post office but in excellent condition. I love Brennan Manning’s work and this book is no exception.

Another amazing book from Brennan Manning!! Beautifully written and honest as you would expect from Brennan, and a real treasure to read again and again and soak in the truth of his message.

I have not finished the book yet but I do love it.
