Update on Thursday, April 13, 2023- I recently got a terrible infection on my forehead and I could not figure out what caused it for the life of me but it continued to get worse and worse as the days went by and the doctor seemed perplexed so they did a sleep study and I brought everything I would generally bring to go to sleep a.k.a. my pajamas my bonnet, my double cleanse etc. The only thing that has changed about my routine is this new bonnet which claims to be silk on the inside… I can definitively tell you it is not silk that does not mean that this is a bad product I love this product but it carries bacteria especially and that very first fold so clean your bonnets just as much per week as you would clean your towels and your bedding/pillowcases. I have a severe staff infection on my forehead exactly where that bonnet sits and it’s due to me not washing it enough and to the fact that that first layer carries so much bacteria especially if you’re going to bed with your hair wet with a conditioning treatment on top of it. You have to think about it in the sense of when you wash your hands and put them under the hand dryer for three minutes they are dry your skin is not very penetrable at that point but if your skin is constantly wet because you’re going to bed with wet hair, your floor head or anywhere that that wetness touches keeps your pores open and makes your skin more penetrable for bacteria. Learn from my stupid self and clean your bonnet and your pillowcase just as much as you would clean your hair, trust me it’s embarrassing walking around looking like your for head is ready to give birth to a golf ball. I only needed it to cover my head [not my hair], and I would get too cold in the winter if I put my hair inside of it). For another, the shower cap was only available in juvenil-ish prints which reminded me of diapers with bright patterns. But worse, it was horribly uncomfortable when worn overnight because the elastic was too tight (and my head is a medium size). It was like torture every single time and I hated it!!! But this bonnet was incredibly comfortable as soon as I put it on and I knew I made a good decision to buy it!!! Wish I had done it so long ago!!! Adjusting the tightness was ridiculously easy!!! The elastic band to keep it on your head does not always work. Sometimes it does the job, other times it is perpetually too loose and/or breaks. I guess because the price is cheap, the item qualities used are cheap. It’s soft and cool to sleep in. I like that. The lining isn’t silk, but I haven’t had a problem with the fake silk. The hair is protected IF the cap stays on. Which it may, unless the elastic band is faulty. That can be a problem. If the elastic band is bad, the cap will slide all over the place (often off), and I wake up with my hair looking and feeling dry. Which I like to avoid, hence why I buy the cap. Cant give it a full five stars due to the inconsistency. Size: I buy the medium, that works for me. 5/5 Value: Cheap price means it will act cheap if you get a dud. 3/5 Feel: it has a nice cooling effect. 5/5 Softness: yes, is soft and smooth. 5/5 Lining: it is NOT real silk, but does feel silky. Decent imitation. 5/5 Hair protection: when it works like it’s supposed to, I do feel it does the job.
