The shelf is sturdy but the white paint is sprayed on thinly as a single layer over the fake wood underneath. It's almost translucent under bright light, kind of like doughnut glaze. If the manufacturer had given it a second good coat of paint, it would have been perfect.

Love the unit, perfect for my son’s room to organize all of his books. That being said, one of the pieces of wood arrived damaged and only noticed after starting to build it. Too much hassle to un-do and re-package

Perfect little shelf for all my toddlers books!! Will probably but another eventually for his growing collection! Perfect height for him to go over and pick out whatever books he wants off of it!

I wanted to like this unit so bad. I personally believe that I got a bad one. After installing the base, shelf and back panels easily with the clear instructions and obvious illustrations, I moved on to putting on the side panels. This is where the issue came in. The holes to put the screws through the side panels that would go into the other pieces were misaligned. The screw would go in the panel and straight through and remain visible. It is supposed to go through both sections of would to hold them together. Whoever made these holes was off by a few millimeters. Quality of the product visually was pretty decent otherwise. I wish thi review gave the me the option for pictures and videos to illustrate exactly how the holes do not line up.
