This is really great and gets children writing
This is really great and gets children writing. However, it is way overpriced. You can purchase this at Lakeshore for $3. I wish I had know that when I bought this. :(

Perfect Journal for Rising 2nd Grader
This is the perfect journal for a 1st or 2nd grader!THE PROS!!!!---MORE LINES THAN MOST K-2 JOURNALS - The front of each page is 1/2 space for drawing and 1/2 space for writing. It's so great that the back of the page has additional space for writing. Moving into 2nd grade, I want to encourage my child to write paragraphs. This is the perfect tool for us. Most K-2 journals only have the 1/2 page space to write, which isn't conducive to paragraphs or longer stories.---SPIRAL BINDING - We especially love the spiral binding! It is more comfortable to write with the spiral binding. Traditional composition books can be awkward to navigate. Mychild is a lefty! So this makes it a little easier on her too.---STRONG COVER - The cover is nicely laminated, so it should holde up better than a traditional composition book.---DIMENSIONS - It is about and inch taller and 1/2 inch wider than a traditional composition, so there is a little more room to draw/write.THE CONS!!!---NUMBER OF PAGES - This book is thinner than a traditional composition book. I'd say there are only 1/4 the pages of a composition book. We won't be able to write as much in here. (For me, though, don't mind have a slightly slimmer book. I'd rather work on making quality writing than a huge quanitty of low quality writing. We're going to use this as a "special summer journal"!)

Not what I expected...
I purchased for my 5 year old son that had expressed an interest in writing/illustrating. With each illustration he only writes one sentence and with this book there is a box for illustrations and 5-6 lines. Then you turn the page and the whole page is lines (which he doesn't need). I wish that every page (front and back) had illustration box and a few lines. Will return. I purchased on my mobile app which does not allow to "look inside" the book. I've learned since that if you use a computer, you can see inside before purchase. Lesson learned.

Great book to keep young children interested in "journaling"
I purchased this for my first grader as a way to keep his mind busy and expressing himself with being able to tell stories in his own words with illustrations. He loves to write about his daily activities and draw what he did. Its a good way to work on his handwriting, imagination and spelling skills!

Perfect K/1 journal
This journal is perfect for the child who is just beginning to write sentences through maybe second grade. I would have my first grader write about something fun he did that week and draw a picture to go with it. We have a sweet journal of memories!
