Redline say this is supposed to decrease the chance of corrosion and improve the thermal conductivity of your engine coolant, thereby transferring heat away from your engine block more effectively. You'd probably not notice a decrease in your engine temperature unless you were already suffering from overheating problems, as most vehicles have a thermostat in the block that gradually opens as the engine reaches its designed operating temperature, directing all the water around the radiator instead of keeping it looping round the block. Thus, any improvement seen by this product would be invisible, as you'd just find the thermostat not needing to open as fully. The benefit would be in protecting your engine, added piece of mind, and elimination of any hot-spots that might encourage knocking and pinking. I went on holiday last summer, which would have involved a 500-mile round-trip even if I didn't do any driving at all when we got down to our destination. Seeing as my car had just turned 35, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try this stuff - especially as she's been knocking and pinking over the past year whenever fed standard unleaded, even though I've always used the same ignition timing, and the temperature gauge had been a little high in heavy traffic occasionally too. So when I did my service right before setting off, I added this stuff to my usual 50/50 blue coolant mix. Well, the temperature gauge definitely stayed in the area I like it to be in, so I guess it does what it's supposed to. Additionally, I'd say the pinking issue was slightly better although not cured. (I suspect that's more down to the ethanol content of 95 octane leaning the mixture out too much, rather than hot-spots in the block, though. I don't want to retard the timing any further as it used to be fine on 95-octane and too little ignition advance will reduce power and efficiency, and increase temperatures). All in all, I'd say this stuff does what it says on the tin. Hopefully its anti-corrosion properties also work too.
