Gerber 07535G 600 Needlenose Multi-Plier

This is not the first Gerber multi tool that I have owned. My previous one was lost in my luggage on my way back from West Africa and when I set out to replace it the model was no longer available.For those of you that are wondering if the 600 series versus the 400 series is that much bigger, the answer is yes. It is too big to fit in a pocket the the extra weight does make a difference.One of the knives looked like it had been used to try to cut metal when I got it and I had to repair the edge before I could use it to cut anything.One side of the handle is really stiff and taking out the philips head is a pain, the other side works flawlessly.The main reason for my negative review is that the carbide cutters are not effective. I am now without any sort of wire cutter after they shattered on a wire that was too hard. In short it is a gimmick that in not functional unless you only use it on copper wire and nylon ties. New cutters are about $16 but I don't think I am going to buy a replacement. If I am faced with the prospect of this being my only tool and somehow making it work regardless of the situation I would rather have a design that deformed the cutting edge rather than breaking. At least a deformed edge would still sorta work.I really like the design of the pliers that slide out and it was one of the main reasons that I decided to buy another Gerber. But my memory of my last tool was not one that I had to fix out of the box and the only reason I don't use it anymore is that my bag disappeared. It seems that Quality Control at the Gerber plant could use a review.

I have always been partial to Gerber products. They back up there work. had a different model, sent it in when it wore out and they replaced it for free.

The carbide blades while they seem like a upgrade are actually not as good for my application as the standard wire cutters. Wish I had stuck with my tried and true 600 MP without the carbide cutters.

This Gerber is on my side EVERYDAY! It cuts .045 MIG welding wire all day. They're MY official welding pliers. Can't live without them.

I've been using these for years. Love them, great product. I lost the last set I had after 15 years in construction. The pliers I had before those I wore out after about 20 years. This is my third set, figure if I don't loose them they will last the rest of my life.

If it only hat a led light......or bat-a-rang

Lost it in the back yard for 2 years, found it and put it back on my belt. Some discoloration that I wouldn't call rust, and no change in its usefulness.
