Unlike competing designs which rely on the direct flow of the water to blow the pellets around, the F5 lifting plate forces the incoming water under the pallets and over the lifting fins. This creates a layer of moving water between the plate and pellets that the pellets ride on, which translates to no dead spots where the pellets don't move. The vertical orientation of the outlet holes and their adjacency to the fins allows the holes to be much larger then in other designs. The larger size means the holes won't clog, even in the toughest conditions. During a power outage, or when power is cut for maintenance, the pellets fall down and stack on top of the fins - preventing pellet back flow through the holes. --- Small footprint, small pump, small utility bill.
