Normally I would just use a roller, but the paint and later polyurethane manufacturers recommended a brush. No way was I willing to paint the entire floor with a medium size short handle brush. I screwed in a long handle and applied paint like I was sweeping the floor. The width (5") fits into a 1 gallon paint can without messing up the bristles (if you're careful).
