I wished that I had had these 50 years ago.

Properly centered over the hole and clamped to the work, it keeps your drill or tap perpendicular to the work, at least deep enough that you can finish the hole freehand without tilting.

Wider and taller would be even better for a perpendicular hole.

Is a lot more flexible and useful than more elaborate jigs.

Smaller then expected and hard to keep in place when drilling metal. Used clamps but it was very difficult to position in restricted areas. Would probably be fine for softer materials like wood or plastic.

I bought the smaller guide locally. This is a good help when drilling into round shapes or on the corners of square materials. I used it to drill centered holes in wood dowels, which can be tricky even when using a drill press. When used on flat surfaces I found it difficult to get the hole aligned with my marks. As other reviews mention a clamp or two is needed to make the most of the drill guides.
