It wasn't a complicated installation, but was a bit tedious, given the distance I had to run the wiring under the bed of the truck. It would be much easier to install on a sedan. The only suggestion I would make to the manufacturer would be to include a more permanent mounting bracket for the front or top of the dash. My Nissan Frontier has a nice tray on top, which would have been perfect for permanent mounting, but I had to use the generic adjustable suction cup mount that came with it. Now I'm happy to have one of the best add-on back-up camera systems you could ask for and it was under $40. I highly recommend it if you're not afraid to get your hands a little bit dirty and follow a few simple instructions. And now my wife can back the Frontier out of our narrow driveway and the mailbox at the end is still standing! Or run it along the roof over the headliner. Camera power and the signal to turn the camera on usually comes from the reverse lamp. So you will likely have to remove some trim in the back to get to the reverse lamp wire - check your manual for how to replace that bulb - that will show you how to get to the wire. A problem with many cars - especially vans and SUVs is the reverse light is mounted on the car body, while the license plate is often mounted on the lift-gate or trunk lid. So you'll have to work out a path to get from the reverse lamp to the license plate. That may take several more feet of wire. Some SUVs have rear glass that rolls down in the lift gate. Installation was straightforward and went smoothly. I chose not to wire it into the reverse lights and instead use the cigarette lighter power option, which i’m really happy with. There’s a handy button on the plug to turn the camera on and off, so you can also use it even when you’re not in reverse if needed. The kit comes with the necessary tools needed to use both this option or hooking into the reverse lights depending on your preference. There was plenty of cable length to run through my mid-size sedan with no issues. Both the camera and screen quality are really good for the price. The license plate mount option is also sturdy and easy to secure. If I had one minor complaint, the camera itself is fairly large compared to OEM systems in newer cars.
