Intermittent / Poor Connection
Installed this to connect a Simrad Autopilot into a NMEA network with a B&G Chart plotter. I couldn't get the network to recognize the autopilot and ended up calling Simrad technical support. They were very helpful and quickly identified this SIMNET Joiner as the problem. It was making intermittent connection, and a bit of dielectric grease helped eliminate it (for now). The joiner does not give the impression it was very well designed or made considering it is nothing more than a male to male set of pins to connect the two female ends of the SIMNET cables. It should be an easy and highly reliable device that you can plug and forget in the network. Hopefully it will not start becoming intermittent again when the autopilot is running.
