Prima Taste Laksa La Mian, 185g, (Pack of 12)

I typed laksa noodles and bought some competitors one it was horrible. And then I went back and found this one. This is the best one it comes with a shrimp piece and the powder which I think is like coconut milk powder. It’s the best one it’s the only one worth buying. This taste so good and if you want, you can add shrimp to it or even believe it or not, but it’s just so good. I’m actually making some right now. I loved it so much. I had to go back and buy like the multi pack because this is a delicious soup. This is probably the only Ramen type soup that I will ever purchase.

I’m a professed foodie and an ex-native. I’m very particular about the authenticity of any cuisine, even more so Singaporean, Malaysian and Indonesian (my Asian cuisines of choice). I’ve ordered this brand consistently in the last 5 years, I easily rate Prima Taste Laksa a solid 5. While this is an instant noodle it is in a class of its own! Is it pricey? Not for how delicious and high quality it offers, it’s a meal when done right can rival any Singaporean restaurant here in the United States. One packet easily serves 2 for a light lunch, noodle has a good chewiness and not soggy. For my taste, I like the intensity of the sauce so adjust the water according to your taste. I like to add fresh shrimp, tofu and half a hard-boiled egg. I recently experimented adding a tablespoon (or 2) of Homiah Sambal Shrimp Crispy Crunch to give it even more mouth fill as I remember the version I had growing up. For those adventurous foodies, try it. Instant Noodle may never be the same again.

I chose these based on a recent NYT article. I was not disappointed! They had an excellent taste and we really enjoyed the springy texture of the noodles. We teamed this with some stir fried veggies & tofu (seasoned with a little soy, fish sauce and rice vinegar). The serving is generous. With our add in, we were able to split a single package between the two of us.You would never know that these were an 'instant' noodle.Highly recommend.

I love the noodles but I just can't stand the paste/powder combination. It has to be the shrimp that I can't take because when I add jjajang sauce it's fine. Or maybe it's the coco powder. I'll keep buying because it's one of the healthier noodle options I've experimented with I'll just exclude the sauces. Will update if I get a better outcome

So the truth is- this is expensive for an "instant noodle". Its for good reason- the quality and taste and serving size are all justifications for the cost for me. Even adding nothing to it this is a meal- and has body. The sauce thickens and it is heavy, flavorful and rich.... not because its spicy though it is, but it actually tastes and isnt just a salty water with peppers in it or something. Its like a gravy. Make sure you cook the noodles long enough Im a little above sea level and it takes near 10 minutes of simmering to soften them fully but they're still great with some bite to them. I have served these to friends who have visited and they've all been deeply impressed - and my friends arent people who havent tried decent ramyun/ramen or haven't been to restaurants serving noodles- they have had enough to know its good.I know this reads like a toe sucking love letter to this noodle but I want to be clear- its like the king of curry instant noodles.

The paste packet doesn't mess around as far as smell is concerned. It only takes a few seconds after opening that packet to catch a wiff of something not quite right but totally tasty. I don't get it? My co-workers don't get it either....this stuff definitely stinks up the break room but the taste is incredible. They quickly forget as I only make them suffer once a month or so.

A small box containing only 1 pack of noodles was sent for this even though it was advertised and priced for a 12 pack.
