I do carry this bag as my day-to-day purse, and I find that it does not "look too big." Most "tote" bags, such as those that are used to carry laptops and work files, are 1/3 again larger than this bag. And, I have seen some "purses" that are larger than this. I like it as my purse and have no qualms recommending it to you for the same. Have fun with it. It's a great bag!
