We also would not advise doing this because it would damage the fabric potentially and not provide full UPF 50+ protection. **Q: is the mask tight on the nose part? i wanna use it over makeup. thank you** A: the makeup will come off on the mask. **Q: Does it have to go over the head?** A: No, there are two snaps at back neck for adjustability. **Q: does the UV protection come from chemicals or just the fabric?** A: It depends on the fabric. Zno is my favorite a cotton/bamboo fabriic infused with zinc or titanium. You'll have to read Coolibar's description for each type of fabric.
