LG G5 & Nexus 5X USB Type C (USB-C) Cable & Fast Charge Wall Charger

While this is a LG charger, I discovered after the charger arrived that it IS NOT identical to the LG charger that came with my Nexus 5X phone. The Nexus 5X was shipped with a LG charger model number MCS-ND4WR with a rated output of 5.0V at 3.0A. It has a USB C port only. The LG charger that the seller shipped me via Amazon Prime is a model number MCS-HD5WR with a rated output of 9V at 1.8A or 5V at 1.8A. The shipped charger has a standard USB port.Increased amperage (A) is what boosts the charging rate of a phone. The Nexus 5X was designed for this TRUE fast charge--not the one that the seller claims. Even more blatantly, the seller does not list amperage of the device in the specifications. Beware! This charger will not charge your Nexus 5X at the rate that the original charger does.The charger I received is going back. I am going shopping for a charger that is a true OEM replacement for the one my Nexus 5X is rated for. I should have read the "Questions/Answers" section of the Amazon listing more carefully. Others have encountered the same problem that I have

I received the charger on time and was packaged ok. Once I plugged in the charger for the first time I noticed my phone toggling between charging and not charging. I began to unplug the charger to plug it in somewhere else and notice the charger was abnormally hot. I then tried to plug it into a different outlet and now the charger will not work at all. The cable will work fine though plugged into any other charging device. I was hoping that purchasing an actual LG branded phone charger for my LG G5 would mean good quality and an accurate charge but I was mistaken. Frustrating.

Doesn't work. I have purchased several versions of this charger before with no problems. This one doesn't work and for some reason is not eligible for a return. When you click the link to determine why it's not eligible for a return you are presented with the entire return policy which speaks about all items - and doesn't specifically tell you why THIS product cannot be returned. Very disappointed.

If you want fast charging do not buy this!!! This is not a fast charging charger. Fast charging is 3A, this one is 1.8A. Had to return mine as my phone kept notifying me that it is not fast charging every time I would plug it in.

In summary, this charger box and cable worked great out of the box, but the cable seemed to lose charging capacity after a couple months. My old phone may have contributed to this issue though.I bought this charger and cable because my older G5 was charging slowly and running down quickly. In fact, it got to the point that I had to power down my phone to get it to reach a full charge with my old chargers and cables. My carrier said it was time for a new phone, but I chose to get a new battery and this new charger instead. Out of the box this charger and cable worked as advertised. They charged my phone quickly and I didn't have to power down my phone to get a full charge. Unfortunately, I lost the charger box after a few weeks. Then after 2 months I started having the same problem with this cable. At first the phone would notify me that it is, "charging slowly." Soon it got to the point that I had to power the phone down to get it to charge. After trying several charger boxes and cleaning out the connections on the cable and phone I got another phone, an LG G6. When I connect this charging to my new phone I get the "charging slowly" notification. So it appears that the cable has lost charging capacity.

I had to order 3 of these before I got one that worked, fully. The first one, the wall charger made a high pitch squeal and wouldn't fast-charge. The second one the wall charger worked fine but the cable didn't support fast-charging. The third one seems to work ok.

I ignored the reviews saying not to buy this product and shortly after using this charger my phone's abilities started to decrease. My phone can no longer properly receive text messages, I either get the same message 10 times or I get a message hours after someone sent it. Although this may be a coincidence, I didn't have any problems with my phone until using this charger. It seems to correlate because I also noticed my phone gets quite hot while using this charger vs the original. It didn't come in an LG box, so I wouldn't be surprised if it is a cheap knock-off just like other reviews claim. Buy this charger at your own risk, I ignored the negative reviews and now I may need to buy an entirely new phone now.

This charging cable has been fine until now. It charged fast and I had no issues with it at all until recently. I've included a picture to show my concern. It looks like it's about to start an electrical fire... So I'm tossing this one out. I can't trust that this is safe to use anymore.
