Great doggy bed! Some pooches might need a bit of coaxing to get used to it...ours did, but now he loves it!
Our rat terrier is getting on in years and suffers quite a bit from the cold--for a long time he was fine as long as we put on a doggy sweater or vest for going outdoors, and he definitely needed a blanket to cover him at night even though his bed was located in the warmest spot in the house...if anyone forgot to tuck him in or didn't get around to it fast enough he would stand and glare at the offending party until the matter was settled! I saw these last winter and thought one of them would be great for him, but we hesitated because of the cost, and also because I wasn't sure how well he would take to a new bed (he is a bit of a stubborn old cuss) and I wondered how durable it would turn out to be--so ended up not doing anything until this year. As a short-haired dog, he has always been sensitive to the cold, but this year has been worse; his coat has gotten thinner and he has been quite miserable, shivering more than usual and even while wearing a thick and heavy wool Chilly Dog sweater, so we decided to go ahead and take a chance on this bed. I ran across this model (the luxury has the microsuede fabric vs the basic cotton blend on the regular version) at a great price. I read many of the reviews to help determine which size to get and ended up ordering the large size bed...it arrived yesterday and looks much nicer than I expected (I have to admit I was a bit concerned about ordering this sight unseen simply because we have purchased so many dog beds that turned out to be cheaply made or would fall apart in no time) but this one seems to be very well constructed. It is nice and thick and I like that the cushion can be removed so the covering can be washed. The fleecy part seems warm and cozy. At first, he didn't realize he was supposed to get inside of the bed and he insisted on laying on top of it. Even when we held it open and tried to encourage him to enter, he wasn't having it. I read some of the reviews of people with similar problems and was worried that I had wasted a lot of money on something that wasn't going to get used. Finally, my husband just gathered him up and deposited him inside--he was disgruntled, but then it took him about 3 seconds to decide he really liked it in there! The next time, he wanted to get in by himself, but he was a still a bit reluctant and someone needed to hold the cover up--the inner support doesn't hold it open as far as it appears in the picture (it looks a bit like a slightly collapsed tent--hard to tell how generous the opening really is) but he got used to it after a couple of tries and now he is in and out whenever he wants. Outside of the opening, the bed looks exactly as pictured--the cushion is really thick and soft (he just kind of burrows into it) and the fleece is is also soft and very plush. This is a great dog bed and he is absolutely reveling in it...one of our other dogs is a bit jealous, and she wants to get in, too, but so far he has been resistant to inviting guests to share his new bed. He is a fairly small dog and only weighs about 15 or 16 pounds so there is more than enough room for him. There is space for the other dog, too but it would probably be a pretty tight fit for the two of them (she is about twice as big--perhaps 35 or 40 pounds, and I think this large size bed would be perfect for a dog of her size). Initially I thought the small model might be best, but the large was on sale for only two dollars more, so that's the one I bought, and it was the right choice. We have yet another dog--an Akita, pretty good sized--maybe 80-85 pounds or so and he would not even come lose to being able to comfortably fit in this bed (in case this information helps anyone else choose a size). Luckily for my budget, the other dogs are content with their current dog beds + they have plenty of fur to help keep them warm!

My dog now has a serious issue....
I have to say, I am quite impressed with the effects of this bed. We have 3 dogs total, 2 chihuahuas, one brussels griffon(well, I had one well behaved dog, but then I decided to let the gf move in after an extended period of time and ended up with 2 more dogs). One of them lives in a cage whom I could care less about, as she is spawned from the evil lord satan himself. The brussels griffon and other chihuahua are pretty content with sitting next to us on the couch though on a typical day. The chihuahua LOVES to burrow into anything it can find though. Whether it be towels, comforters, sheets, clothes. He also is very high energy. He leaps from one of my expensive leather couches to the other expensive leather couch with no regard. When I saw this bed on Amazon, I knew that this dog would love it. So I purchased a large bed (I wanted all 3 dogs to fit in there if need be). Day 1: Opened up the box, pulled out the bed. I was very impressed with the quality of the bed. It was actually better built than I was expecting. In fact, I kinda just bought this on a drunken Christmas Amazon shopping spree. Usually I am very nit picky about features and quality, alas, my concerns were quelled quickly. One thing I noticed was that the opening is actually supported by a rather firm piece of metal. I would say it was akin to how a camping tent rod feels and acts. It kind of props the entrance open. This is actually a pretty nice feature, because I can get a glimpse into the bed and see which dog is in there and refusing to respond to me. So, here comes the doggy test. I drop the satan dog in the pouch, she just runs out screaming and hissing back to her cage with her tail stuck between her legs like she just got caught between a Rihanna and Chris Brown altercation. No surprise there. Whatever, I hate that dog. So off to doggie #2, the brussels. Now, she actually enjoyed the bed a bit when I dropped her in, but she was VERY skeptical about what this new, warm, fuzzy contraption was. So she jumped off and went about her normal daily business only to end up back on the couch with me (which I don't mind because she never moves). Now, for the 3rd dog....well, let me tell you. I dumped his unsuspecting butt into the bed, and I swear I dumped him into a black hole. I didn't see the dog come out for the rest of the day. Day 2-3 On the second day, I left for work before the dogs were fed, and got home after they were fed. I felt like I didn't even own but 1 dog again. I hadn't even seen dog #3 for 3 days. He just slept in the bed. 2 Weeks Well, a couple weeks later and dog #3 has found a new place to pass away. I don't think he is coming out of there. I have never seen a dog so content. The other 2 dogs aren't afraid anymore, and they like to sleep on it as well. Although the brussels just likes to lay on top of it, while the chihuahua's like to cozy up inside. It fits all 3 dogs nicely though! I have to say, it is an excellent product. Conclusion: This is a high quality product, that will last a long time and provide your burrowing buddy a sanctuary within the sanctuary. Do your pet a favor, and splurge a little on them. They will LOVE you for it. And for me, it was a great way to save my couch. EDIT (8/1/2016): I wanted to provide an update on this particular product. It's been almost 4 years since I originally purchased my Cozy Cave for the dogs. It has seen consistent daily use between multiple animals. The dogs decided, on their own mind you, that this was where they wanted to keep all their toys too. It's been buried into, laid on, and horsed around in daily. It has truly been put through the paces of time, use, and doggy abuse. Let me just say, this thing has performed rock solid. Devil horns be damned, this thing chews up and spits out even the most crazy Chihuahua incidents without even noticing. The quality, the stitching, the zippers, the tent pole all remain just as in tact as the day it was bequeathed upon us by the doggy gods. The only thing that ever was in need of attention was the stuffing. Considering how highly used it is, it would be unreasonable to expect the stuffing to stay as "cloud like" as the day it rained down from heaven. Not an issue though, as re-stuffing it was a breeze. However, be very careful removing this from the doggy territory for washing/restuffing. I'm pretty sure my brussels thinks I'm taking it away forever every time I wash it, because she angry poops where the missing bed is without fail. Every. Single. Time. So aside from having to restuff it every few years, and the angry poops from washing it, it's served it purpose 10 fold. If this one ever bites the dust, you can sure bet I'm in for another one. Heck, at this point in time, I'm half tempted to get one for myself! But i'm sure the dogs would just kick me out of it and claim it as their own.

It took some coercion but...
I got the large in khaki for my 1 year old American Bully. I'm guessing she weighs around 30 pounds and she's short but broad. Large was the perfect size! She gets in it and spins around and fluffs it up until she decides it's comfortable enough. She can get a little carried away. I got khaki because it was almost half the price of the fun vibrant colors (which I would've preferred) but I'm economic and $100 on a dog bed seemed extreme. But I'm happy with the khaki, it's a nice muted color that blends in and doesn't impose. It's definitely not as hideous as the advertised picture makes it seem to be. The interior color is a pretty cream color. I was a little nervous after ordering because right afterwards I learned she has a fear of big stuffed animals. Once I got it I put the stuffing in it, put it in a corner and put little training treats and her favorite toys all over it and inside of it before I let her see it. She was wary and suspicious for a good hour until she got tempted enough to get her treats. As soon as she ate them all I'd put more even deeper inside, 6 hours later as night came she crawled right into it and fell asleep like it was the most natural thing to do. She LOVES it! She sleeps in it every night. It stays in my room so when I go to work I can shut my door so she doesn't chew it up. Not sure she would, but we would both be sad if she did. I've only had it a couple of weeks so I don't know about it's durability but the material seems really nice and sturdy. Not cheap in any way. Super soft interior and nice, strong exterior. I haven't had to wash it yet but I'm probably going to have to come back to other reviews to figure out how to take the tube for the lip out. Others said the interior fabric sheds but I haven't noticed if it does. My dog has a nice sleek coat, not much sticks to it. I love that if the stuffing goes flat I can just go buy some filler and stuff it in and zip it up. Well, this is the longest review I've ever written. I just love how cozy she looks in it. It makes me sleep like a baby too. I'm so glad I got this for her. Totally worth the $55 I spent on it! The last picture is from today, which is almost 3 years of use.

Excellent Quality but too snug.
I really liked this large size cave dog bed. But my 24 pd dog did not. Even though it was the large size, it was way too snug for him. He would not burrow into it as I had hoped, because it was too tight for his body. However, the sherpa material was so warm and cozy that I did not want to return it. I solved the problem by cutting out the bar that held the opening up. Then I cut back the cover so that it was like a big flap. (A zippered design would be nice.) With the cover out of the way, he can get on the bed and stretch out without any trouble. And, if it gets cold, I just throw the flap over him. He's agreeable to this compromise and now consents to sleep on the bed. All is well!

she's pretty much just a little ball of muscle
Minnie LOVES this bed, she sleeps in this and naps in it constantly. We've had it for about 6 months now. She's laying inside of her Snoozer Luxury Cozy Cave Pet Bed, X-Large right now as I'm typing this. Minnie is a 50lb American Bully, she's pretty much just a little ball of muscle. Minnie is not much taller than a 2 liter of soda, She's 14 inches tall, 11 inches wide and 30 inches long. I attached some pictures, 1 of her laying in it just straight chilling as she always does. The 2nd of her getting in and re-positioning her self to an optimal spot. 3rd is her doing her patented "halfie lay" which can extend to any part of the body being in or out of the Snoozer. 4th is of the bed empty so you can see it doesn't stay 18" open by any means. The 5th is just a picture to show her size. At first I bought the Large for her, while yes it was plenty big enough for her, she just didn't seem to take to it much I think because it was just too tight for her to be comfortable. The large also has a smaller (shorter) 10" opening, and also a smaller (narrower) entry which I think was part of the reason she didn't seem to like it that much. I gave it about a week, after that I figured that with the bigger (taller) 18" opening with wider entry would be more her style. Now even though it says that the opening is 18" vs 10" that's at optimal peak, which in MY experience will never happen, EVER! I would say that the 18" opening is really more about 10" at any given time, which put the 10" opening at like 6-8".She has to push her head under the opening and then kinda walk into/under the opening to get in it. I won't even take a star away from it because of that as I was able to get the X-Large and it was open enough for her to feel comfortable getting in. Sure enough the X-Large is a smash hit. It only took about 2 days for Minnie to fall in love with this new bed. Which is pretty impressive, considering she also doesn't like blankets to be on her or anything. Minnies' preferred spot to sleep until I got this was under or on my bed, now it's in her Snoozer or on my bed. There was some concern in regards to if this would be too hot for her at times, as it is really thick and has a really warm, soft, fuzzy inside wool-like texture. I keep my house at around 76 degrees and so far no issues in anyway shape or form. The opening for the Snoozer doesn't really stay that open it kinda falls on itself and is just barely open at times, but Minnie can still get in, I've yet to see her not be able to get in, then again she isn't that tall. After about 6 months of having this wonderful bed, she got a little sick one night and properly puked all over about halfway inside the bed. At first I was mortified, as it had been sitting and had for sure soaked through or so I thought. Luckily it had not, the thick padding of the cover held it in. I did a quick google search to make sure I wasn't going to destroy my Snoozer by taking it apart, and found a link to a video that showed how easy it was to clean. Just unzip, take the bed out of the casing. Now the opening of the bed has the tube that goes throughout it, on the left side of the tube casing about an inch from where it meets the bed, there is a little opening you have to dig to find, you then slip the tube through and out it.Then lightly wash the covering with cold water. After which I tumbled it in the dryer with no to little heat for about an hour and then let it air dry for 24 hours. Long story short, this bed is amazing and Minnie LOVES it, which means that I LOVE it!!!! I would absolutely buy the Snoozer Luxury Cozy Ped Bed (X-Large) again!!

Poor production & company has not followed through on remedy or contact
First, let me say that I've ordered 6 of these beds over the past 8 years specifically from Snoozer on this site and another site. In the past, these beds have held up well with the dogs we've had - lab mastiff (100lbs), beagle mix (48 lbs), boxer mix (75 lbs), and small shepherd mix (45 lbs) and I've never needed to be in contact with the company. They LOVE these beds, especially the boxer mix and beagle mix who love burrowing in them. This one bed (navy canvas); however, has been a huge disappointment and so has dealing with Snoozer's distributor customer service. I ordered two of these navy beds about 1 month apart. The first bed has held up as expected. The 2nd bed --- has not. As the pics show, in less than 30 days of having this bed, the seams have split, and continue to split as my dogs move in and out of them. With the seam split the cover falls back into the bed and the bed insert is exposed. I reached out to company over two weeks ago (have now reached out 4 separate times). The first time, the rep said I have to upload pics of the defective bed to Amazon order in order to validate the warranty coverage, but there was no place on the comment form to do this. I replied that I didn't have anywhere to do this. They again responded with "without images for us to review we cannot invoke the warranty." Again, I responded with "I have nowhere to upload images on this communication form with you, please provide an email or web site and I will happily do so as I'd like to resolve this and have the cover replaced." The 3rd inquiry - not even an acknowledgement. I just made the 4th inquiry today. I've been making inquiries for over two weeks. I just want to cover replaced or a full refund on my purchase price. As I said, I've owned 6 of these and only 1 has failed. I've previously ordered the tan canvas (4) beds and they've held up well to washing. Toward the end of life most of the sheep fur (inside) has fallen out and I do end up vacuuming a lot of this over time. The plastic rod inside which gives the cover it's shape doesn't last long. For some reason, it ends up creating a hole in one end or another of the top cover and begins to come out. I usually remove it after a while (after learning about this with the first bed) so it doesn't do anymore damage to the bed or become a chew toy for my dogs. Without the plastic rod -- the bed still functions. My dogs just bend down and lift the top cover with their head before climbing inside. As I said, I've had great experience with 4 previous beds. But this most recent one has been a great disappointment and so has the sellers customer service and outreach.

WONDERFUL dog cave!
When I got this my dog couldn’t use it because she had emergency surgery and was wearing a party hat (aka cone). So I was worried she wouldn’t use it and it would be too late to return. I have tried 4 other brands to no joy. But I was determined. And - SURPRISE! She’s LOVES it! She’s determined to be under a blanket almost always and this is wonderful! It’s got a great pad for sleeping and the cover is nice and thick too. The creative use of a curved bar on the top makes it easy for her to get in and feel safe and cozy. Im so happy to have found this one.
