Despite having a roll-up garage door with very good bottom seal, a heavy rain and wind event (common here in Astoria, OR) always resulted in water intrusion -- that is until we installed the Tsunami Seal threshold. Absolutely no water intrusion now.Installation was straightforward and took less than an hour. I do, however, have what I hope are a few helpful hints:1) I have a 16' garage door opening (2-car garage), but purchased the 18' threshold. This was a good decision as simple cut-outs for the garage door tracks allowed for a nice extra foot on both ends of the threshold. This extra length provided a more stable and protective installation of the threshold.2) BEFORE starting, go out a buy a "real" caulking gun. It is nice that one is included with the product, but it was awfully cheap and became totally useless in the middle of laying down the adhesive due to the handle of the gun bending (making it impossible to push out the adhesive).3) BEFORE starting, make sure that the Liquid Nails adhesive is not too cold. Keep it inside or warm it up a bit before beginning because if the tubes are cool, it is a real bear to lay down rows of the adhesive without a great deal of extra effort (don't forget, you are laying down three lines of adhesive (over 50 feet for a typical two car garage).4) BEFORE starting, reverse-roll the threshold (and keep it so rolled for some time). The heavy-duty construction of the seal and the fact that it comes rolled up fairly tight makes it difficult (especially at the ends) to get it to lay flat, and you need to have it lay flat for installation. Follow the instructions and leave the garage door completely closed for at least 24 hours -- I kept weighted boards on both ends of the threshold to keep it from curling up.5) Some adhesive may squeeze out when the threshold is first laid down, and during the 24 hours with the weight of the garage door on it, some additional adhesive may squeeze out. To prevent any excess adhesive adhering to the bottom of the garage door (or garage door seal), I placed aluminum foil along the length of the outside edge of the threshold. Indeed some adhesive did get squeezed out, but the aluminum foil prevented it from sticking to the garage door bottom seal.That's about it. Again, a great product and corrected what had been a longtime, ongoing problem. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ No more water in the garage *by I***F on Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2015* My Driveway slopes downward and when a heavy rain came i would see water in the garage, tried lowe's and home depot but nothing was available to purchase immediately. So i did a google seach and found that a way to prevent water from getting in the garage was to install a Tsunami Seal.I noticed that amazon had different size lengths of the seal and my garage door across measured 9 feet across and so i ordered the smallest size that is 10 feet. Within a few days (4) the package arrived.I first cleaned the area with a broom and then cleaned with rubbing alcohol and cut the seal down to 9 feet and put the seal down with the flat end facing towards the outside and the grooved portion facing the inside of the garage. and closed the garage door so that the seal from the garage doormade a snug fit with the Tsunami Seal.I then used a pencil to outline the Tsunami seal both inside and outside and then lifted upUsed the caulking gun and the liquid nails and instead of using the glue strips as outlined in the directions i made two spirals and then reapplied the Tsunami seal and pushed down hard to make contact.One minor problem that once i closed the garage door i could not lock it, so i removed the locking mechanism and lowered it one notch, the bottomwas easy since i went to the next hole, but i had to drill a hole on the upper portion and once this was done the locking mechanism did it's job.I then left it that way for 24 hours.Early on June 26, 2015 we had a heavy rain and no water got in the garage and obviously i was not going to write this review until it was tested and btw i am not a very good DIY person. ### ⭐ You know about shrinkage? *by D***N on Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2019* First off, I live in an area that has four seasons. I installed this product 5 years ago. In the first year-and-a-half or so, the strip shrank a full 4 inches in length (I bought the 16-footer), which, of course disengaged the glue. So, since that time, it’s just sat under the garage door with no adhesion. In that state, it does work somewhat. This was the second such product I had purchased and used. I had a similar experience with the first one. If you live in an area where you have very hot weather in the summer and very cold weather in the winter, the simple fact is that these types of products will work with only moderate success. They will expand in the summer and contract in the winter, and the glue will only hold it in place for a few years at best.
