Enzyme Powder a Winner, But This Kit Isn't a Bargain
This bagged kit says it contains some of high-end Aussie beauty brand Sand & Sky's best sellers, all from their "Australian Emu Apple" brightening line. Developed by sisters Emily and Sarah Hamilton, the brand is based on natural ingredients, highlighting its Oz-sourcing.Though they call it a "four-step system," there are only three products in the reusable bag, and no details of what that forth step might entail. There's also a "bonus beauty blending sponge," which seems a slightly odd choice, since it isn't really designed to work with any of the included skincare products, and is more a makeup tool. A cleaning mitt seems like it would have been a better option, and Sand and Sky actually does offer those on their website so…Anyway, color me a bit confused. On the plus side, two of the products you get are the same as the full-size versions available; the exception being the mask, which is a trial/travel size 1 oz version (full size is 3.5 oz). All of the products come individually boxed within the branded, neoprene bag.Of the products themselves, the enzyme powder is the winner of the three for me. A bit messy to use, you put some of the powder in your palm, and then add a tiny amount of water, until it turns into a light, slightly bubbly paste, then rub on your face, in soft, circular motion, per their instructions. The process is all a little awkward, and it's a bit too easy to get too much water in the mix, but the end result is worth it once you get it right. Skin really did feel super soft and glow-y, just as advertised. Once you get the hang of the mixing, a little does go a long way, so even this fairly small bottle (2.1 oz, which is their full size), should last a while, if you use it the recommended 2-3 times per week. A little tip, I did it before I got in the shower, which ended up being a good thing, since it's easy to get the grit in your hair, and a little hard to get out without a full wash. The "glow drops" are Sand and Sky's most popular product, according to their own website. A serum designed to be worn under your regular moisturizer, a little does go a long way. Hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C are the key ingredients here, and I did think it absorbed fairly quickly, and was good for what it was, on par with similar serums. If you haven't been using a hyaluronic serum, you will notice the moisturizing and plumping benefits pretty quickly, and the C in this serum was gentle and didn't irritate my skin, which has had bad reactions to C products previously. I, personally, prefer a gel serum, as I think it's easier, and less messy, to apply, and I've found them to absorb better, whereas this is pure liquid, which can make it difficult to evenly apply without drips, so I actually recommend mixing it with your regular moisturizer. The mask was my least favorite of the line. It's a creamy, rinse-off mask, meant to apply on clean skin, leave on for 10 minutes and rinse. The brand suggests nighttime application, before your pre-bed moisturizing routine, and 2-3/per week usage. There are 2-3 uses in this very small jar, depending on how closely you hew to their "apply a thick layer" dictate. My skin did feel soft and hydrated after use, but almost a little too much. Definitely didn't feel like I wanted to apply additional moisturizer on top of it, as they suggest, and I always wonder how much good these creamy masks do after they're rinsed away. This isn't an awful way to try the Sand & Sky product line, but keep in mind that you're not getting a bargain when buying this set, as you're paying full price for all three products. In fact, you could actually get full-size version of all three, including a mask jar 3x this size, on the company's website for roughly ~$10 more right now by buying their Mega Glow Kit (powder + serum) along with a full size mask that comes with nice, handled applicator this trial/travel size doesn't. Anyway, I think the product line has promise, and do like the enzyme powder quite a bit, but the so-so mask and serum, plus the set cost not being discounted (one of the reasons you buy in a set is usually to save a little money over individual product purchases) makes it hard to wholeheartedly recommend.

Messy
First off, this set does a great job moisturizing my face and making it feel softer and smoother. If it didn't, it would have gotten a much lower rating. Unfortunately, I'm not a huge fan of the smell of these products. I think it's the emu apple because the best way that I can come up with to describe it is that some fruit sat out a little too long and started ferment. Even that's not exactly the right way to describe the smell. To me, it's an unpleasant smell. With the polish and the drops, the smell fades fairly quickly. When I used the mask, it stuck around a little longer.I feel like this is really messy to use. The polish requires mixing a little powder with some water. In the picture, I have more powder than I would normally use. I feel like I have the proportions down pretty well now, but I've found that it can get messy easily. If you add too much water, it can get runny and messy. If you don't add enough or if you pour too much powder in your palm, the power can get all over, and pouring it back in isn't really convenient. The dreamy glow drops were probably my favorite of the bunch. I can feel the difference in my skin almost instantaneously after using these. The one thing I really don't like about it was that the dropper starts dripping right away, even before I've squeezed it. Make sure to be ready to start applying it right away before it drips anywhere. The instructions say to use four drops, but because it starts dripping right away, it's hard to get just four drops. I've tried dripping it into my hand and applying as well as allowing it to drip directly onto my face. Getting some in my hand and then applying it to my face seems to work better, and it's less messy. When I tried applying it directly to my face, I felt like I had to quickly catch it before it dripped all the way down my face. The mask is the messiest of the three products. The best way to describe the texture is to say that it's Greek yogurt mixed with a bit of Jell-o Jigglers. I found it nearly impossible to apply the mask without some falling off of the little spoon. It says to put it on thick, but I'm not sure how you do that since globs of it started sliding down my face even when I didn't apply it very thickly. The carrying case is nice. It's a convenient way to store all three products together. The make-up blender is probably nice as well, but it's not something that I'll use.Overall, if I can get past the smell and the messiness of these products, I would continue to use this. Otherwise, I'll likely pass it on to a family member.
