Great for car detailing!
This bucket insert is fantastic. It lets all the dirt fall to the bottom while keeping rags and sponges above any debris, so the water stays cleaner. The durability is great, and the quality feels solid. The size fits perfectly in my standard bucket, and the water retention works as intended. I also like the color, and it’s very easy to clean (washability). Overall, it’s made car detailing much more convenient.

No sharp edges!
Fits perfectly in a 5-gallon bucket & stays securely on the bottom! Works as intended. Keeps dirt & debris below the surface, so contaminants are not transferred to the car. I have since purchased a 2nd one.

Width of product may not fit standard 5 gallon pail
The grit trap works good with ample space below it to catch grit. It is too wide to fit flatly on the bottom of my 5 gallon pail. The products dimensions in the description are correct. It is my fault that I didn’t measure my pail before purchasing.

Good product for a reasonable price. Note this only fits a traditional 5 gallon bucket (The type you get at Home Depot, Harbor Freight, etc.)

Sits at the bottom of Home Depot buckets with 1/8 inch of play to the wall
I wanted something to keep my sponge from contacting the bottom of the bucket where the heavier dirt particles settle. For me, that's all it has to do, just elevate the sponge off the bottom. I don't buy into the claims that these types of devices "trap" dirt, but maybe if I try really hard, I could see the argument that the four large standoff fins might reduce turbulent flow at the bottom to help keep dirt at the bottom from being kicked back up as much, but by my definition, I'd hardly consider that a trap. (btw, if you really really are counting on this effect, then following that same logic, you'd want these fins to sit at the bottom where the dirt is and therefore wouldn't want a trap that wedges higher up in the bucket) With that being said, this was exactly what I wanted at a lower cost than the more well known brand versions. It fits a Home Depot bucket, sitting at the bottom with 1/8" of play to the bucket wall. In my uploaded picture is a bucket purchased in July 2019 (it has a very rounded bottom inside corner). I also tried it on an older ~2014 HD bucket (no rounded inside corner) and it also fit that, maybe with a tiny bit more play. It's pretty sturdy, which I honestly didn't expect. The thickness of the webbing is ~.075" (~2mm). And I didn't even consider that the web spacing would be too small to fit some fingers, so the five finger holes were a surprisingly useful feature. I don't use it to scrape the sponge or mitt, so I didn't experience any of the lifting or floating off the bottom that a couple other reviews mentioned. I almost stuck to the more well known names to avoid the hassle and disappointment that sometimes happens when purchasing an unknown brand (we've all been there... end up spending more after trying to save a few bucks). But it seems the parent company that makes this item, Schroeder & Tremayne have been making car cleaning products for a while and google results seems to indicate they are actually the manufacturer of some of the Mothers labeled sponges and brushes. In all, I'm happy with this purchase. And I hope you found this review helpful.

Great product, always need em.
Work great. Strong build quality. If you wash card you need these… especially when you live somewhere with lots of extra loose dirty and unpaved or old roads.

Cheap and works as expected.
For the price, it works great. I just placed it in a Home Depot bucket and fits perfectly. It's easy to clean.

Wash Bucket Dirt Trap
Great bargain compare to other brands. It keeps wash mitt/sponge off the bottom of 5 gallon bucket where any dirt and debris may settle.

Simple and effective
Seems as though it should last a lifetime. I like how they incorporated a five finger hole pattern to facilitate removal. It fits easily into a standard plastic 5 gallon bucket and does not bind. I tried it on several different buckets just to be certain. The three feet rest on the bottom of the bucket and keep it stable. It does float for just a few seconds when you first fill the bucket but then it sinks and stays at the bottom where it should! Overall, it works exactly as it should and I would definitely buy these again.

Does the job, no complain about it. But a bit expensive for what it is used for.
