I have a turtle, his name is Frank. Frank is a nice guy, but holy cow do his poops stink. I also checked, and they don't make poo-pouri for turtles, nor do the turtles decide to use it. So I bought this.The gentle waterfall fits nicely via the suction devices and has a steady small water stream the flows using the tanks water. This is so relaxing. I'm thinking about opening up a spa with this filter, aquarium, and Frank as the only decor. Oh, and on top of that?? Keeps Frank poop free. He used to swim around in his stinkers, but now for $15 or so, he thankfully doesn't.

I originally bought one for my axolotes tank because they do not like heavy water movement it destroys their gills. It was perfectThe filter is super quite and flows really well. The water flow is actually really staedy through the filter. The suction holes are on the bottom so it can be used in a tank or terrarium with just a few inches of water. I Then removed it and tried on my fry tank. Still worked great. The little pump is great because it draws the water up through the botton and then pushes it up out the flow spout. So if the included filter insert is not enough for you, you can stick a piece of sponge filter in it to make it work even better. You can hang it from the aquarium edge with the included adjustable back hanger. It also has 2 nice suction cups on the back. The work really well I almost wanted to take them of and use them for a heater I have instead lol. I chose to use the suction cups instead of the hanger. Both functioned properly so its a matter of preference.When the item first arrived I was a little skeptical. It look basic and nothing special. I am glad I was wrong. When the filter arrived I opened it and noticed a fine black dust all over the filter. With it being white it made it look dirty. I then realized it wasnt dirty the filter that comes with it has carbon in it. It was just the carbon dust that is on most filters. After I quick wipe down with a paper towel it was perfectly fine. Before using the included filter insert make sure to wash the filter with tap water for a few second to remove the excess carbon dust. Most filter inserts you buy say to do this anyways.It you need a small filter for low water movement or small fish, go with this one. For the price you'll be happy.

This filter is more useful for rimless aquatic containers or terrariums that have low water levels (personally I would recommend at least 2 inches of water depth at a minimum instead of the listed 0.98 inches). For these uses, it works great. Or even as a small current filter on a standard aquarium after medication treatments where the charcoal can work on removing the remaining medication chemicals by hanging it with the provided rim hook mount from the lip of the aquarium hood doorway because the rim hook is not large enough to fit over the plastic rim found on most aquariums sold in the USA ( I’d like to see the mount hook redesigned to fit standard aquariums or include one for each, those with a rim and those without).It’s not intended to complete with typical hang in tank type filters for larger bodies of water. In a terrarium setting, it wouldn’t be difficult to stage rock formations to create a waterfall allowing for the filter housing to be hidden from sight.Myself, I bought it to use as a medication removal filter that won’t need a high flow rate, could be stored away easily after use and wouldn’t take up a lot of room in smaller (10 gallons or less) hospital aquariums. This filter fit that need nicely. It can hang of the side or you can use the rubber suction cups to mount it on the aquarium wall. With that being said, you’ll have to lower the water level a bit to allow the water exiting the filter to “splash” on the top of the water to aerate the water.It would also work nicely for a small betta fish aquarium where slight water flow and gentle aeration is appreciated.

I have had the filter running for 3 days now and found it effectivel for what Its supposed to do. I like that the unit sits inside the tank, keeping the outside looking neat (compared to a hang on back - see 2nd picture). The unit comes with a carbon filter and has room for other media, where I plan to add ammonia removing pellets. The pump provides a steady and soft stream that doesn’t bother my Betta. The 4 suction cups hold it in position well and it also come with an adjustable hook to hang it.Ultimately, this will end up in a turtle tank that I’m currently setting up (3rd picture). I have it submerged about 2.5 inches deep and no issues so far with regards to water flow. I’ll be putting plants around it, anchoring the base with rocks.Overall this gets 5 stars for the features and price!

Honestly given its price I thought it wouldn't be very useful but it actually works great. The only real issue I have is reordering the filters takes forever (its expected to arrive a month after I ordered the filter replacements while the whole unit arrived in one week), but I found replacements that work in it at my local Petsmart.I'm using it for a 6 gallon betta tank and it's working just great! The flow is strong enough to filter through a good quantity of water but not so powerful that it stresses my betta. Thanks to how its constructed it doesnt suck up his fins either.It's great for small tanks but I wouldn't use it on anything above 10 gallons and even on a 10 gallon I would suggest something a bit more powerful.

I used this filter for my turtle tank, great filter. It is very quiet and I love the waterfall it has. I change the filter about every 3 weeks, works really well. My tank doesn’t have any more odors, which is great considering that turtles are a little smelly :)

The media could not be loaded.  Super quiet--silent, almost--and blends in nicely with the background wall. Also keeps the water crystal-clear. Big con: not as pictured as all product photos. Note that the wire comes out of the bottom and thus must go up through the water. Not sure about the reason for this odd design feature. I would have been much happier if the seller had sent the other version of the item, with the wire coming out of the top.
