Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway, Hiro

A couple years ago, my son (now four-and-a-half years old) became very interested in Thomas and Friends and we got him some of these wooden trains as well as  KidKraft Waterfall Mountain Train Set and Table . For birthdays and holidays, we've gradually been adding to his collection of the wooden trains and this past Christmas, we got him Hiro as part of his Christmas present since that is one of the engines he'd asked for!These wooden trains are a wonderful set and they are all compatible with the train table I mentioned above. This particular engine is Hiro, the number 51 engine, and he is NOT battery-operated. He measures about 6 3/4 inches long, including the tender. The engine itself measures 4 1/4 inches long and the tender measures 2 1/2 inches long. They attach with magnets that are located on the fronts and backs of the engine and tender and can attach to other compatible trains. There are wheels on both the engine and tender and the engine piece has moving pieces on the bottom so it can easily turn. The engine and tender are black, with nicely painted features and the face looks similar to how Hiro looks on the show. This engine is made in China.My son loves Hiro and plays with him a lot! We've had him for over eight months now and he still looks just like he did when we opened the package. Just like the other engines of this style, he is well-made, looks nice, and is very durable. I like how his name is printed on the bottom of the engine and his tender is labeled as well. It makes it easier to keep track of all of the engines! This engine is not battery-operated and it doesn't light up or make noise so don't worry about needing batteries with this one.If you are interested in purchasing the engines from Thomas and Friends, I highly recommend these! Hiro looks just like he does on the show and my son loves his engine. I have no doubts we will be back for more of these because my son still plays with these trains all the time and so does his twin sister!

My son was thrilled to finally have a real Hiro wooden train. We have a knock off version of Douglas - another black train in the Thomas series - he's been calling him Hiro for months now. I debated buying him the real Hiro but they're just so freaking expensive that it was hard to justify...but for Christmas I went ahead & got it. I can't stand how pricey these things are - but I will admit that they truly are top quality wooden trains. I just wish they could make not-so-top quality trains (since right now the only other option is the bottom of the barrel knock offs that come from China - something in the middle would be great!). But in the end it was worth it to see my son so happy with the real Hiro. The pricing on Amazon was the best I could find (this was $30 everywhere else - I got it for just under $20 on Amazon) - so that was a bonus - b/c honestly, there's no way I would've bought this if I had to pay $30 for it!

It's great! Looks just like Hiro! My son was thrilled to have his favorite train.I am taking off a star because it showed up over a week late and the company was completely unhelpful in trying to figure out where my shipment was.

Hiro is a wonderful addition to the thomas & friends wooden railway collection. our 2 year old really loves hiro right now. his expression when I opened the package was priceless, wish I had gotten a photo. He was saying thank you over and over for about an hr or so and giving hugs :) They make good indoor toys, I wouldn't recommend bringing them outside because they would chip the paint easy if dropped since its wood, otherwise great quality, wheels are plastic and stay on the track with ease.

This product was not available in store anywhere..... very disappointed grandson. Found it here at a great price and was shipped out very quickly! Its durable construction of wood as opposed to plastic, makes it a great investment for a long time collection. The magnets that connect the trains eliminates another moving part that can easily snap off. This train can be used along with other similar magnet trains. This product is great for anyone, any age who loves trains.

My little engineer has been wanting Hiro for a long time - I think it's the the size of the engine and the tender ... but Hiro met every expectation and then some. Great quality and sturdy construction that we have come to know and love from Thomas and Friends Wooden Railway. We always buy Thomas with confidence as we know the quality will last generations. Hiro is no different. He's a member of our family now, and will be forever.

Good solid wood train but item does not match picture. Only way to tell the item is not the standard Hiro is to completely pull up all the item specifications. Seems a bit like a bait and switch since the information is purposefully not prominently displayed.

This train goes so fast (Faster than the other electronic ones) and is very solid! My grandson loves it

Es la primera locomotora de la gama Wooden Railway que compro. Mi hijo está totalmente obsesionado con la serie Thomas and Friends y ya le habiamos comprado a Thomas, Percy y Marion, pero de la marca Mega Bloks. Dada la imposibilidad de encontrar aqui en España más personajes de esa marca a un precio razonable hemos tenido que buscar otras opciones para poder ampliar su colección. Me decidí por la gama de madera y he acertado, el tren es chulísimo y a mi hijo le encanta (Hiro es uno de sus personajes favoritos). Está bien hecho, aunque no está fabricado en su totalidad en madera como yo pensaba. Y lo mejor es que el ancho de sus ruedas varia muy poco del de las ruedas de los trenes de Mega Bloks, por lo que puede utilizar ambos tipos de tren indistintamente en los dos sistemas de vias.Sin duda a partir de ahora le seguiré comprando el resto de personajes de esta colección.Comentar también que en las fotos del producto se muestran dos versiones diferentes (la cara del tren de la primera foto no es igual que la cara del tren de la segunda foto). En mi caso he recibido el de la segunda foto, que es más fiel al aspecto del personaje de la serie.

Quality, traditional wooden toy train. Cannot fault the 'Thomas and Friends' collection. My little boy is enthralled by them and plays for hours. Absolutely brilliant! Additional bonus is that it was delivered almost a week early. I will most certainly be purchasing more from the collection.
