A heartwarming second book on the real life, spirited Caddie Woodlawn and her lovable siblings during the late 1800's
This delightful second book on Caddie Woodlawn, picks up with the antics of Caddie Woodlawn and her brothers and sisters during the late 1800's on a farm in Wisconsin. The book is a series of fourteen short stories based on the memories of the author's grandmother, Caddie Woodlawn. The spirited Caddie, along with her older brother Tom, and younger siblings Warren, Hetty, Minnie, and Baby Joe, will keep you laughing long after the book is finished. In addition to the humorous stories, this book gives you an insightful look into the society and history of the late 1800's when hard physical work, family life, and being a good neighbor, were the basis for living a happy and fulfilling life. The original book, Caddie Woodlawn, was published before Laura Ingalls Wilder published her famous series. The stories of Caddie Woodlawn and her family closely resemble the spirited life of the Ingalls family. This book will capture your heart, remind you of a time when life was more simple, and leave you laughing from beginning to end. I love this book. If you enjoyed Laura Ingalls Wilder's books, you will love the Caddie Woodlawn stories.

Same book as Magical Melons!
Same chapters! Different title. Wish I'd read the reviews more carefully, as we already owned Magical Melons. Oh well, now I have something to stash in my gift closet for someone else.

Better than LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE
I read this book as a preteen, and I have never forgotten it; I am now a retiree. I bought this as a gift for someone who is in a nursing home who loves to read, but nothing too long and difficult. Next to TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, this is my "all time favorite" book. It is rated as a young adult book, I believe, but it is a book ANYONE would enjoy. I was a children's librarian for many years, and I can't tell you how many of my students read and loved this book.

More great Caddie stories!
This book continues shortly after the first one ends. In the beginning it tells the ages all the kids are now. My child read Caddie Woodlawn in school and we enjoyed it so much we bought this to continue enjoying her stories.

Exactly as I Expected
The quality of this book was pretty great for the price I payed for it. The paper was nice. I have no clue how the actual story is though, because I bought this as a gift.

a wonderful children's classic book...
this is a book I have loved since I was a child in elementary school. 0ur teacher read it to us and it has always been a favorite! A true story (the best kind) about growing up in mid-l860's in northern Wisconsin --when Indians were still around and Abraham Lincoln was President. Also recommend the sequel - Magical Melons (or Caddie Woodlawn's Family) -! you won;t be disappointed. It is a great book to read out loud to 8-12 year olds!
