How in earth do I get the socket bits out of the case? They refuse to budge.

Thank you for your question! Sockets are nested vertically on the base. There is no need to rotate sockets left and right, which may cause damage. It's recommended that you use one hand to hold box and the other hand to pinch the head of socket, apply force to the opposite direction of tool box, pull out sockets vertically, or pulled it out with pliers.
