The seams are pretty tight and I haven't had problems with it collecting debris. **Q: Since its plastic has anyone tried putting hot or boiling water in it? Has it cracked at all?** A: The primary material used is plastic. I would NOT use boiling water when needing an accurate liquid measurement. That is when you would use a glass measuring cup.
