Almost Perfect... If only a couple feet longer!
I'd like to 'Love It', but the first time I used it I wished it was just a few feet longer instead of just 6... Of course then I'd want even more. I believe Stanley does make a larger 16 foot FatMax, but that's not the size you'll likely and easily stick in your pocket or purse for a few days hunting down that perfect sized 'thing'... this IS. It's a scaled down version of their 25 foot FaxMax tape measure... same style, good lock-up, smooth operation, nice wide tape that doesn't go limp when extended. All good. Really. Even pocketable - not as slim and disappearing in your pocket as the 3 foot, but, hey, this one is 6 foot and doesn't droop! It's just that just after I received this I was measuring in a smaller bedroom, and tried to measure the single bed's overall length and ran out of tape (75" long bed - tape is, of course, 72"). So my dreams of an ideal, small, go shopping for furniture and appliances tape measure were shattered; sigh - if only it were 8 feet long! Still, it really works so much better than the 3 foot tape measures, you'll love it... unless you need to measure just over 6 feet. Fortunately most of the appliance and furniture shopping excursions really don't need more than a 6 foot measure. You'll likely love it.

An every day must have!
I don't know about you, but I'm always looking for something that requires certain measurements to fit in a particular place so I need to have a tape measure handy.I purchased this Fat Max tape to carry around daily in my pocket. It replaces a cheap plastic one I've carried for about a year. The first 6" or so of markings wore off that tape from just banging around in my pocket all the time. The quality of this Stanley tape is top notch and It's small enough to slip in my pocket and not feel bulky. The blade is coated so the markings stay put and are easy to read. It has good flexability but is wide enough to stay straight even when extended 3 feet (great for checking depth of items on those crowded store shelves) and the handy blade lock actually works great. I expect this little gem to last me a long time.Like my title says..........this IS an every day must have for me!! Ever wish you could check the measurements of that thing you're looking at in the store to see if it would fit where you want it??

The best tape measure ever? Maybe.
I sometimes wish I've kept track of the number of tape measures I've. Not to brag to you, but so I can know how many I've lost somewhere in my shop/garage/vehicles/etc. About 5 years ago I purchased one of these little keychain measures with the idea of keeping it in my pocket. Yeah, how can I lose a tape measure that I carry around with me in my pocket? I had to remove the chain but that only takes a second with a set of pliers. Well this little guy is the first measure to still be in play after this many years. Given the success of the purchase, I decided to buy 5 more. :)

great little thing
great little thing, i use this all the time. its super useful to always have a measuring device with me. you'd be surprised the situations when its useful to have one of these - ive used it at several store to figure out the dimensions of blankets and stuff without having to open the package(like most blankets/drop cloths/ect will list their dimensions on the package, but its hard for me to visualize what 22x50 or whatever is without some kind of aid)its about the diameter of a shot glass or an expresso cup and its about an inch thick, so it fits in my pocket pretty well, and its not too big on my key chain

This Stanley 6 Foot Tape Measure is of very high quality! Exceeded my expectations!
This Stanley 6 foot measure has truly exceeded my expectations because I also have the Stanley 25 Foot measure, which I use often. However, I like to keep a small measure in my purse for measuring on the go. This superb measure is like the little brother the my BIG STANLEY 25 Foot 1 inch tape. Though this one is 1/2 inch and not the full inch wide, it still has a lock on it just like it's big brother Stanley 25 and I like that it has a keyring as I have my keys on this, how handy!Since I love to measure things at home and on the go, this is my perfect ON THE GO tape and key-chain combo!Highly recommend this!

The chain that holds the keyring is too flimsy
The first time I removed my keys from my pocket, the Fat Max got stuck in my pocket, and my gentle tug broke the chain. So I removed the broken chain, and replaced it with a thicker chain that came from an old bracelet or necklace. It's worked great since then, and hasn't broken again. The attached photo shows the Fat Max with my DIY mod.

You don't know how much you NEED this!
It's crazy how useful this is. I didn't know why my boyfriend gave me one, but quickly thanked him after the insane and bizarre amount of times it came in extremely handy. Others are in awe when I first get it out, and next thing I know they're buying the same one online. I keep one on my car keys, one on my work keys, and one in my purse! A great gift for everyone (teenagers, adults, males and females, random relatives, people who think they have every tool in the world (except this one!), and especially for the person you know that has everything. Not clunky, very durable, and lightweight!

Perfect for tradesmen
I work as an industrial electrician, and it's fairly often that I need to measure things like cable trays, distances for free air cable runs (which can not exceed 5 feet in most cases), openings for fittings and couplings and many other things. And most times I don't have my 25' heavy duty Klein measuring tape on me because it's not in my field bag since it weighs 2lbs and takes up a lot of space in my bag. This tape will cover about 90% of the things I need to measure and is just 9 grams (0.01 lbs) and I can carry it with me everywhere. It's also just slightly larger than a toonie. This has greatly reduced the weight of my tool bag, and is much more convenient to carry around. I can't recommend this enough to tradesmen.

Great mini tape.
Awesome gag gift. Works for small measuring jobs but is only 1/2” wide so not very strong but works well for what I use it for. Easy to read measurements and smooth gliding in and out.Only bad parts I found was at the end of tape it is hooked onto spring not ro it’s so it can be U hooked and a pain to re hook and Home Depot sells these for $5

Just like a scaled version of a normal fatmax tape measure ...
Just like a scaled version of a normal fatmax tape measure for the most part. It doesn't come with any sort of beltclip so I put a carabiner through the keychain to attach to my keys or belt loop.I also figured out it is possible to take a belt clip off another tape measure and screw it into this, I used one from a broken 25' leverlock tape. It has a tendency to spin so i put a tiny dab of "no more nails" away from the screw just to hold it from spinning. It honestly looks silly but makes it more easily accessed.Don't expect to do any serious work with it, but for various things it can be useful. I'd like if they made the lock a bit better quality though.

A must have
This thing is a must have. When you're at the hardware store and need to measure something, it's right there on your keychain. I would like it to have the cm marked, but the inches works.

Perfect Lenght
A previous reviewer said this tape measure is too big for the pocket. Maybe a little bit. You can get smaller one (which I had) but they are only 3 feet. In order to have 6 feet length, you need more bulk. All in all, it works just fine for me. Now, I ALWAYS have a measure tape with me, which is great.
